About Me

the official info
Christopher Bernhard left behind a career in his home country Switzerland to play the New York City-scene by himself. Back home, he had two records in the shops and on national radio; was called “the best songwriter we have here” in major newspapers, and sent to the Eurosonic Newcomer Festival in Groningen, NL as one of two Swiss acts in January, 2006. His work in Switzerland has been compared to acts like the early Counting Crows, David Gray and Joseph Arthur.
Only two weeks after the end of the tour for his second Swiss release, he was a nobody in New York, challenging his music to hold up to the city's high standards. He was quickly accepted in the East Village Indie-Folk scene based out of the Sidewalk Café, where acts like Beck, Adam Green and Regina Spektor started their careers. When he returned to Switzerland three months later, he let his band go, had a whole repertoire of new tunes, and an American and a European tour ahead of him.
Christopher Bernhard's songs are snapshots of wide-awake moments in life when things suddenly seem to fall into place. Of sceneries drenched in a colourful but sobering September light, sometimes revealing beauty, sometimes not.
He promotes an acoustic 5-song EP of new material recorded at a friend's apartment in one afternoon and is currently preparing the production of his first international release. the new songs are less band oriented and rely more on the songwriting and voice.
