ABOUT JESSI
Jessi Robertson's music is a study in contradictions. A simple rhythm for an intricate chord that can't be transcribed. A disaster retold with blunt words that twist themselves into poetry. A romantic dance with disappointment and desire. We live in a chaotic, lonely world- the contradictions are audible.
Inspired by the fast pace of NYC, Jessi has also found time to be deeply involved in the local music scene. She is one of the co-founders of the Local Correspondents Community for independent artists, a contributor to Urban Folk Magazine, and author of the Indie Music Resources blog (http://indiemusicresources.blogspot.com). For the past four years she has curated shows for September Concert (http://septemberconcert.org), a worldwide concert series to promote community and healing on 9/11. In between all these activities, she designs and maintains the websites for jessirobertson.com, localcorrespondents.com, and tanyabuziak.net.

Despite her many interests and commitment to community, Jessi's most intense passions are songwriting and performance. She has received comparisons to Jeff Buckley, Tori Amos, and PJ Harvey, but Jessi's style isn't easy to pin down. Trained in jazz and classical voice, her influences include rock, r&b, alt-country, pop, and world music.
Currently Jessi is learning yet another skill and acting as her own engineer and producer while recording at home. Her upcoming album is titled "Who we are, what we have done."
