Prior to evolving into an instrumental experimental metal band, Paria began as a metalcore band in 2001. With their release of The Torn Instances EP via Imagine It Records in 2002, Paria caught the attention of Black Market Activities/Metal Blade Records. Their first full length album, titled 'Misantrhopos', was then released on November 2, 2004 by BMA/Metal Blade and nationally distributed courtesy of Sony/RED. The band quickly became recognized for their extremely crushing and tight live performances and gained sizeable followings throughout the country which lead to opening spots for several national acts including The Red Chord, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Everytime I Die, Six Feet Under, Deicide, As I Lay Dying, Zao, Living Sacrifice, Nonpoint, Ion Dissonance, Origin, Fear Before the March of Flames, Scars of Tomorrow, Nights Like These, Malevolent Creation, Through the Eyes of the Dead, and many more. Paria proceeded to tour the country extensively with bands such as Into the Moat, Winter Solstice, Dead to Fall, Haste the Day, Martyr AD, Nodes of Ranvier, Animosity, Psyopus, and many others.
Paria has also been featured in a plethora of magazines and newspapers including Decibel and Revolver Magazines. Among these accomplishments, the band also performed at New England Metal & Hardcore Fest, Cornerstone Festival, and earned themselves an endorsement with Peavey Amps and Schecter Guitars. Paria has continued to challenge themselves as musicians by not only advancing their technical skills, but also incorporating a vast and eclectic amount of influences to create their unique sound. They are currently in the studio recording their second full-length album, which will be an all instrumental release on Black Market Activities/Metal Blade Records in spring of 2008 and followed by extensive touring.
