About Me

First off, Hi and welcome!! There are three main areas of music I am involved in, which just about cover all aspects and so I will try and give a little bit of information about each of them here. THE CLASSICAL STUFF: I began playing the violin aged 2+1/2, and started composing at the age of five. In 1998, aged 9, I got a full scholarship at the world renowned Purcell School of Music to further my musical education where I am still a student toady, studying composition with Dr Jonathan Cole. Over the past few years i have been lucky enough to have had the opportunity to have many compositions premiered at a number of high profile concert halls, including three concerts at Wigmore Hall, three at the Queen Elizabeth Hall and Purcell Room, a further two at the SBC and two at the Royal Academy of Music. As a violinist, my highlights have come from performing solo at the Purcell Room, and at the Barbican a number of times with the LSSO. MEDIA WORK: My media work began with a bit of a bang a year or two ago when i was asked to produce the backing music to a presentation as part of the Commonwealth Festival, Commonwealth Resounds, to which the viewers included many prestigious world leaders, notably the Queen and the then PM Tony Blair (so I am told - I was not able to be there.) More recently, in July I was the winner of the David Cox award. An award for "An outstanding piece of creative work" for my contribution to the Purcell Film Course 07, which included all round work on the Short Feature Film N.66, music for the best of Art and Music Technology Film and music and editing on the video The Building." PRODUCTION, LIVE AND ELECTRONICS: This is perhaps the area in which I am most interested, producing, mixing and engineering but ironically, the area in which I am least experienced as I haven't got as far as studying at Tonmeister. In the studio I spend most of my time working on Dance (House, Garage, IDM + Glitch, Electro etc...) Drum 'n' Bass, Grime + Dubstep and Hip-Hop tracks, but have on occasions worked with more acoustic based Rock, Funk and Soul tracks. I was recently the house producer at the Purcell Jazz Concert which included working with All Angel's Daisy Chute and Berklee bound saxophonist Sam Healey. This was followed by doing the production on a musical, 3D Opera, which was put on by the school. Oh, I also DJ......quite well. Isa K, July 2007
