It's your typical DJ meets DJ love story: after hooking up at a comp in Leeds in the winter of 2005 Tod Hodge and Chris Elliot combined their mutual appreciation for 'knob fiddling' and set about making music. The result? Stupid Fresh. Taking into account the fact that the majority of their material isn't even available to buy yet, the considerable success of the duo to date is quite remarkable. Having played alongside the likes of Fergie, Micky Slim, Bass Kleph, Will Bailey and Kid Kenobi, Stupid Fresh keep going from strength to strength with their latest release "Get The Fuck Up" on Vacation Records riding high in the number one spot on DJdownload.com and "Stretch the Canvas" sitting pretty at number two.
So how is it that these two have managed to get the attention and props of industry heavyweights? Well it appears they owe a lot to Australia's Hook n Sling. After coming across their "Ho" track via the wonderful world of MySpace and including it on his Chew The Fat! compilation mix, Stupid Fresh have gone on to various radio appearances including a much coveted invite to play on the Loose Cannon's Kiss FM show and having their production services requested for various remixes including the Aston Shuffle's "For Everyone" and Bass Kleph's "Bump Uglies".
Currently working closely with Micky Slim on the Launch of his Bomb Squad Record label and with so much love coming at the pair, it's only a matter of time before they take their unique blend of ghetto funk out of Leeds and across the globe. There's something special brewing in Yorkshire this year and Tetley tea it ain't!
