About Me

Overall I'm a pretty quiet person, but have moments when I break the silence & can be very silly with a "devil may care" attitude. It can be pretty entertaining when that happens... I'll admit to that. I don't like to be the center of attention... so I usually sit back and enjoy the antics of others. I love to laugh!!! I have an insatiable curiosity... sometimes it leads me along strange and wonderous paths, or just plain old gets me in to "trouble". What can I say? *shrugs nonchalantly* Life happens. I enjoy learning... whether from books, other people, or by just observing the world around me. I recently moved to The Netherlands (from Seattle, Washington). FINALLY (after months and months of waiting) the Dutch government has granted me temporary residency, and I am looking forward to beginning a new chapter in my life. The year prior to leaving the State of Washington, I went to school & met all the qualifications in the State to be Licensed as a Massage Practioner. Eventually I hope to be able to practice massage over here, and intend to persue learning as much as I can about different types of massage for the rest of my life. I'd also like to study Ayurvedic Medicine & other methods of holistic healing.I enjoy spending time with the love of my life; reading; writing; dancing; listening to music; taking long walks (especially in the rain); going to concerts, movies, or favorite restaurants; traveling; & playing games on the X-box. Basically, I just try to enjoy life as much as possible, for I believe that is what life is all about. Now, there are times when I feel down, but those times usually don't last too long. Life is so amazing... I simply refuse to spend too much of my time moping or sulking about. There's just too much to learn & a great deal of fun to be had. I am a very sensitive person, my emotions run deep & can be pretty intense. Once I've made up my mind I am deeply committed for I am incredibly passionate about everything I do.I believe that every person met is different & unique, and should be experienced in that way... no matter how similar they may appear, or how much they remind you of someone else. I trust people until I've been given a reason not to trust them and tend to take what people say at face value. At times, this has caused me a great deal of heartache. Regardless of this, the pattern continues, because I strongly believe that one can not hold the "sins" of a few against every person one will ever meet in their lifetime. I am very perceptive... and can recognize when someone is playing games. I intensely dislike games that mess with either the heart or head. These types of games are not right, not fair & are NOT fun. I simply refuse to play. I don't deal well with betrayal of trust or "wishy-washy" behavior. I don't understand it & I don't think I ever will.Physically... well... I'm not a waif (and never will be), nor am I huge. I'm not drop dead gorgeous, nor am I utterly forgettable. I am who I am... and quite content to be me.I think this is enough for now. If there are any other questions feel free to ask. I love questions!

My Interests

Is this where I tell you that I like long walks on a beach, sipping Pina Coladas and romantic evenings spent beside a roaring fire? *raises one eyebrow archly* Oh... *laughs*... thank goodness. For a minute I thought you were going to say yes and I was going to have to pull some of my hair out and run screaming in the other direction. KIDDING!!! I actually do like long walks on a beach if the moon and stars are out. Can't say I really enjoy it when there are tons of people around soaking up the sun. I happen to like Pina Coladas too... but it's not my favorite drink... and a romantic evening spent beside a roaring fire sounds delightful (as long as the fire is contained in a fireplace, or firepit... I'm not talking arson here people... just so we're clear). Sorry... *laughing again*... got off on a tangent there. So... you want to know what I'm interested in, huh? Well, I love to dance, love music, love to travel, love animals (my favorite... why cats, of course), reptiles, and I even like arachnids as long as they don't jump at me. They make any agressive moves and they're pretty much toast as far as I'm concerned. If they mind their manners I'll let them hang around as long as they please. I love doing little artsy craftsy things and sewing. I love to read, write, think, go out to clubs and concerts, going to the movies, hanging out with friends, meeting new people, drinking coffee, eating chocolate (YUM!!!), and trying new things. I'm pretty easy going, really... and pretty open to suggestion. One other thing that people may find incredibly odd... *impish grin*... I am a HUGE rugby fan! I graduated from school and have met all the qualifications to become a Licensed Massage Therapist. I am completely fascinated by the human body and the way it functions!!! I intend to persue learning different types of massage and have become interested in learning more about Ayurvedic medicine as well... perhaps even persue the equivalent of a degree in this. I also REALLY enjoy "down time"... just kicking back and doing absolutely nothing at all. I haven't had the time to do nearly enough of that lately. I collect bats, dragons, Nightmare Before Christmas stuff, gargoyles, and all the little creatures from "Where The Wild Things Are". I should probably warn you that I am a Disney freak too ... not as big on all the new singy, dancey, we've got to be politically correct Disney movies... but absolutely LOVE the classics. I'm just a big kid at heart... and I don't think that will ever change. So... *inquisitive glance*... how did I do? Satisfied??? If not... feel free to contact me and we'll talk more.

I'd like to meet:

Friends: I'd be delighted to meet like-minded souls who want to hang out and just have a good time. If you live too far away for that... then I'm always up for a good bit of coversation (via email or IM). If you choose to contact me... please write me more than one or two liner emails and expect me to keep the ball rolling. PRETTY PLEASE!!! I'm good... *grin*... but even I have my limits.I am no longer looking for anything other than friendship here. I am involved in a relationship with a wonderful man. I refer to him, with the greatest of affection, as Mister Smiley Goff.

Movies:

Well... my favorite movie of ALL time is "Wuthering Heights"... the 1939 version starring Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon!!! The 1997 version is a TRAVESTY if you ask me! *grimaces with distaste* Don't waste your time with that one... go for the classier version. You'll thank me for it! *wink* I have a million other movies that I really like... but it's a REALLY long list. Again I don't really care for westerns... but I'm pretty much open to just about anything else. One honorable mention that I will note here though would be the Subspecies series (Radu is sooooooo deliciously evil!!!)... the budget for these films may have been small, but they are GREAT!!! I highly recommend them!!! *nods enthusiastically*

Television:

Well... since they took both "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" AND "Angel" off the air... *frowns unhappily*... I don't really spend a lot of time watching TV. I do catch as many Buffy & Angel re-runs as possible though, so I suppose that is some consolation. *sighs* I do watch "Charmed" from time to time... and have a strange fascination for "Joan of Arcadia" too... other than that if I watch TV at all I find myself drawn to The Discovery Channel, The History Channel, The Learning Channel, and then all the forensic programs on Court TV.

Books:

Once again we could spend about a million years here together... I LOVE to read!!! About the only think I won't read are westerns, and those sickly sappy romance novels. Mind you... *grins*... I do enjoy a GOOD romance novel once awhile, but most of them have a supernatural element to them. Call me crazy... *shrug*... I don't mind. I've been called worse. If you find you have a BURNING desire to know what I've been reading lately, or what I've read in the past, feel free to ask me. I'd be more than happy to talk with you about them! *smile*

Heroes:

Are we talking fictional or real here??? I honestly don't know which way to go on this one... *laugh*... so if you want to chat more... I'll let you choose and I will answer at that time.
