About Me

I've been DJing in Scotland since 1990 and would be fair to say one of the pioneers of the Drum and Bass scene in Scotland.
Started djing through having shit loads of money whilst working for British Gas in Aberdeen. Bought Technics decks, mixer, amp and a book on how to mix!! started my vinyl crusade by buying records from Airline records(stall at a Saturday market) and One Up Records, early techno, rave, breakbeat, italian. All the stuff that was around at that time.
Caught onto the rave bug after a visit to the Astoria in London and threw myself totally into the scene, by going down south almost every weekend with my mates to parties such as Fantazia,Perception, Pandemomium,Amnesia House etc. It was because of this i started doing my own promotions in the town i grew up. The first night i promoted with my younger brother in 1990 was called "The Double D" , named after E's that were doing the rounds at the time, and sold out. The place was totally buzzing and then i decided that this is what i wanted to do every weekend!
Headrush was born shortly after this, me and MC Feelman(Manga) being joint promoters.Headrush was great fun to do and me and Feelman had a great time, though stressful at times like the soundsystem not turning up til 5 mins b4 opening time, on several occasions.Doing Headrush meant i met a lot of good people, people who are mates 10 plus years later.
Our night attracted people from all over scotland and the north of england, from inverness to Newcastle. We played a good mixture of early rave and breakbeat then moved into the emerging Jungle sound. Our guests included Ratty, Mayhem,Bryan G,Bass Generator and Sneaky Eye, KMC, Kid, Davie Forbes, Technotrance, QFX, Tez, B Jam, Ruff B, Ricochet, Stevie Ruff Stuff with myself ,MC Feelman and DJ Darkstorm as residents.
Headrush ran for ten long years but sadly we called it quits cos we were getting old,LOL.
Other nights started popping up and i got invoved as resident, Fever(Glasgow), Jungle Book(Edinburgh), Jungle Majik(Edinburgh), and a wee nite known as Manga!
Had a release out on Formation Records, The World Of Drum And Bass, with another Manga Resident DJ Kid. We had a lot of fun doing that tune running down to Manchester to try and get it finished after we left it with a certain someone who changed the whole track.HaHa To this day for our first release i think its pretty poor, but cant complain we got a lot o gigs out of it.
Now im a dad i've kinda taken a back seat, let some of the young guns have some fun i say!!
I'm still into the music, some of the tech stuff i like, but like a lot of old skool headz i like my breakbeats and basslines in drum and bass. MyGen Profile Generator
