Brian Young
The founder of Ca Va with production and engineering credits by John Martyn, Runrig and Love & Money, also a cool guitarist with an increasing appetite for valves, vinyl and football.
Geoff Allan
After joining in 1994 as our assistant, Geoff soon moved onto cutting his teeth as an engineer on projects like The Supernaturals "A Tune A Day" and Belle and Sebastians "Tigermilk".Going from strength to strength he soon found a niche working with Glasgow's underground bands like Arab Strap ,Lapsus Linguae and Mogwai through the rest of the 90's. Since then his credits include Camera Obscura, Franz Ferdinand, Mercury Rev, Fiel Garvie, Sons and Daughters, Fickle Public, Flying Matchstick Men and Popup. His all consuming passion for recording can only be described as infectious, although he'll gladly indulge in some "R+R" after a productive day in the studio. Recently he has had success with Malcolm Middleton's "Into The Woods" it was voted number 8 in the Mojo magazine "Album of The Year 2005". Both of Malcolm's albums were mixed with additional recording here at Ca Va with Geoff.
Dave Paterson
Joined us in 2000, and we love him, he is just top notch !. With a lot of advertising experience he slotted in very well, taking on a lot of the CaVa voice over work, advertising everything from cosmetic surgery to casting and recording computer game The Roswell Conspiracies, He has also worked with a great many BBC Sessions in Scotland and Celtic Connections' bands like V-Twin, and The Holmes Brothers, as well as a lot of our regular clients The Scruffs, Dr Honda and The Nimmo Brothers. Proving he is very comfortable with all the various musical styles we get here at the studio. Dave is currently in the charts with Isobel Campbell's album 'Ballad of the Broken Seas' and he also had an album in the Mojo Top 50 this year with Vashti Bunyan's 'Lookaftering'.
Pam Smith
Initially here in early 2005 to assist with the "Great Tape Clearout", Pam returned in Autumn 2005 as a full-time member of the Ca Va Team. Initially working as an admin assitant, she is slowly taking advantage of her engineering background and learning her way around the VR! Shadowing Dave and Geoff and learning the ropes by sitting in on sessions, Pam has now become happier behind the mixing desk than the reception one!
Working with The Fratellis, Kid Canaveral, The Comedy Unit, Twilight Sad, Max Richter, Figure 5, Tattie Moon, Magnus Magnusson, The Tellers and many others on her own, Pam can usually be found helping Geoff and Dave with any sessions!
Artists with a passion for producing great records!
