About Me

The Archenemy Record Company is happy to announce the release of Karacter’s self-titled debut album. Brought to you by the team behind Freezepop and Lifestyle, Karacter takes the ideas behind their “primary projects” one step further back, by exploring their earliest influences — late ‘70’s synthesizer pop. Calling on inspirations like Kraftwerk, Giorgio Moroder, the electronic works of Eno and Bowie, the earliest works of Human League, Depeche Mode, Simple Minds, and OMD, Karacter harkens back to a time when technology had not yet overshadowed musical and lyrical ideas, and when the artistry of those acts was not hemmed in by concerns of commercial viability. Incomparable to today’s “new new wave” groups, Karacter has a different outlook. “We went back to our earliest influences, music we had lost track of over time. Music defined by its technological limitations, not created in 128 track modern studios. We embraced tape and hiss, and of course, stayed in touch with early analog synthesizers and rhythm units, which have always been a cornerstone of our work,” group frontman Sean Drinkwater offers.
