The Harp Trio

THE HARP TRIO is Nancy Cunliffe, Rachael Gladwin and Nula Mathers, and is a mixture of spectacular fiendish fingerwork and truly tasty vocals. Based in Merseyside, THE HARP TRIO penetrates pubs and festivals, often to be found frantically tuning their collective 92 strings in the ladies loos or blocking the way to the bar with Nula's beast of a harp. In September 2005 the story began as Rak and Nula collided with each other in a corridor with a big harpy bump, whilst studying for music degrees at university. Delightedly recognising the common (and frankly conspicuous instrument) they both towed with them, they vowed to start a collective of hairy harpees - which stopped at three after they sought out Nancy, the only other player in the building. Good job that was the lot really, four harps in a Corsa would be pushing it. The trio of nimble fingered harp-hussies have gone on to write some rather wonderful music, cram ridiculously large instruments in to very small venues and drink an unfeasable amount of tea.
