About Me

DJ since 1991 and co-producer under the names AEROPLANE and JAVELO.
“Only dance with you”, a few words in order to place Stephen’s mental context into perspective.
Giorgio Morodor, New Beat, and Disco light the way of his sound trajectory. Let’s now turn to the mid nineties where night clubbers’ neurons had already fallen in love with his style.
Mixes go on one after the other and during four years he took his quarters at the Fuse for the Mad Club parties. The electro pandemic had already broken out and with the help of a bunch of madmen, he aroused the night visitors’ latent desires in front and behind the decks during four years with the rendezvous ‘Lounge a Soulful Celebration’.
In 2003, it’s the big clash and the bookings start to flood in:
• Ten Days Off (Ghent)
• Dirty Dancing resident (Brussels)
• Culture Club (Ghent)
• Pulp (Paris)
• Dour Festival
• Les Nuits du Botantique
• Laboratoire Factory (Lille)
• Monthly shows at the Tryptique (Paris)
• Café d’Anvers for the Eazy Fuck parties
In 2004, his musical activism drives him towards music production along side his alter ego Vito De Luca under the name ‘Spankers’.
They revisited the title ‘I don’t want to have sex with you’ by one their compatriots ‘Sold Out’, by using a hybrid style of electro pop.
Once again with De Luca, they developed a second project; Javelo, a disco-electro atmosphere with melodic emphasis. They started strongly by attacking Riton’s ‘Shitehawke’ and signed up with ‘Grand Central Recordings’ a prestigious English label.
In 2005, they locked themselves up in a recording studio with DJ Morpheus (Minimal Compact) and composed ‘Crackin’up’ which was released on the French label ‘Art of Disco Recordings’ including a remix by Javelo.
Even more productions and remixes followed one after the other on the Dirty Dancing Label.
In 2006, Stephen became a resident in Dirk Eskimo’s new club ‘The Make Up’ in Ghent where he still plays as well as in many other Belgian clubs.
In 2007, again and always with Vito they decided to create a third project; ‘Aeroplane’ on the Eskimo label…To be continued…
Stephen behind the decks is for sure a trip between old, contemporary disco and avant-garde electronic music.
