Sleazy McQueen Ft. Anne Montone - She Was Totally My Disco Muse EP (Moodclub Music 04)
1. Sleazy McQueen Ft. Anne Montone - Anna Due (Cole's Vocal Mix)
2. Sleazy McQueen Ft. Anne Montone - Anna Due (Sleazy McQueen's Original Dub)

Anna, due, tre, quattro; that's right, get ready for Moodclub Music number four! This time, our Belgian friends teamed up with Orlando based Sleazy McQueen, Cole Medina from California and LA's Anne Montone for two pieces of sexy, slow paced basement disco. Sleazy? You said it!
Sleazy McQueen is the force behind this transglobal collaboration. His computer and keyboards have signed releases on quality labels like Bear Funk, Eight-Tracks, Morris Audio, Hairy Claw, Icon Recordings and Bananza Records, whereas his record bag has found occasion to travel to Chicago, New York, Tokyo, Florence and London. He also heads up the Brooklyn based Tres Gueros band. LA's Anne Montone has just won the Scion singing competition and is currently getting high praise by the big names in the music scene. And finally there's Cole Medina, a true underground hero and a mystery to many, although his name regularly pops up in Todd Terje or Prins Thomas playlists, to name a few. Especially known for his versatile edits, more material from him is forthcoming on Prins Thomas' Internasjional label, but first, this mindblowing original work on the Moodclub Music imprint.
Did we say original work? Well, maybe not quite. Because, as it turns out, this EP is sort of a unique three-way collaboration between the three artists. The first track of the package is Cole Medina's Vocal Mix. You see, right after Sleazy McQueen's Original Dub was written, Cole Medina remixed it into a new instrumental. It was Mr. Sleazy who came to the conclusion that Cole's great piece of spaced out, slow motion disco would shine through even more with the addition of Anne Montone's dreamy vocal, weaving it into the track himself. The result is an intense piece of contemporary disco music, for lovers and for dancers.
The second track on offer is Sleazy's Original Dub, as mentioned above. This instrumental version features a sub heavier low bottom, Ray Mang sounding percussion and an overall slightly housier feel, making this one the perfect transition between italo, disco or cosmic stuff and rougher sounds. You've guessed it, one for the more adventurous, eclectic jocks. According to the legend, Sleazy composed Anna Due on a keyboard he'd borrowed from his friend, Anna, later reporting that she was ''totally his disco muse''. We'd love to tell you more, but it's probably none of our business anyway. But then, if you just have a listen, we're pretty sure you'll get the idea right away.
Moodclub Music was created early 2008 by Moodclub founding father Pierre de la Rivière and Jonni Gratts, one of the Moodclub resident deejays.
It is meant to be an outlet to release quality house music, meaning house music in a very broad sense, much comparable to the sound that the Moodclub residents have played and loved throughout the years. This ranges from funked up house jams, more electronic or deeper affairs, proper peak time tracks as well as more subtle B-side cuts.

After many years of deejaying as well as organising events in the Belgian electronic scene, both Pierre de la Rivière and Gratts have come a long way. Pierre started organising the Moodclub events in 2004. The pair met up when they were both handing out flyers for their events in downtown Leuven and started talking. At that time, Gratts was a resident at the infamous Touché parties.
Since they joined forces, they've travelled the country to play their trademark sound in back to back deejay sets, not seldom to much acclaim.

House music heavyweights like Luke Solomon, Kenny Hawkes, Troydon, Manuel Tur, Slater Hogan, Demarkus Lewis, The Littlemen and John Larner have graced the Moodclub decks throughout the years, as well as a selection of Belgian jocks like Raoul Belmans, Red D and Massimo Dacosta. Unsurprisingly, this list reads like an ABC of quality house music producers too.

That's why, early 2008, Pierre and Gratts decided it was time they released some of the tracks that long-time friends, Moodclub guests and other regulars provided them with. With a little help from Crisp and Ivow from Bokal, they formed the Moodclub Music imprint. It will be a digital only outlet to start with, but vinyl plans are shaping up behind the horizon, so who knows where all this is going? We can only wait and see what these nice young men will have in store for us, and what the future will have in store for them.

Sounds Like: Last October 16th, Moodclub celebrated its fifth anniversary at Club Silo. We finally got round to editing the video, and we put some Moodclub Music releases on top of it. Note that Spirit Catcher, Belgium's finest, played the event, and that the audio on the vid is not the real night's audio. However, if you'd like to hear their semi-live set, it can be found on our Moodclub weblog.

Stacy Kidd & Tai Davis Present Trax Trixsters - Work It Out EP (Moodclub Music 03) is out now!

Some more info about the EP:

Stacy Kidd was born in Chicago in 1972 and started deejaying in 1987 after being amazed by the music he was hearing on the radio. After several releases together with Paul Johnson on Dance Mania in the mid-nineties, he soon came in touch with labels like Basement Boys, Yellorange, Dust Traxx, Defected, Kenlou and Derrick Carter’s Classic label, with Carter being a great fan of Stacy’s work.

Today Stacy Kidd fills clubs worldwide with his special blend of house music, blending disco flavours with deep Chicago beats to perfection. He fuses uplifting, soulful vocal samples and time-honored disco licks with driving four-to-the-floor beats. Since 2002, Stacy runs his own production company called ‘’Underground Elements Productions’’, while also working for Warner Brothers. Stacy just released the ‘’Unpredictable’’ album with fellow Chicago producer and singer Tai Davis.

Hot on the trail of this, the two return to deliver this Trax Trixsters three-tracker on Belgian label Moodclub Music. ‘’Work It Out EP’’ is a true testament to the sound of the Chicago underground, adding a raw hip house vibe to the relentlessly funky trademark beats and nasty basslines. But enough of the talking: just close your eyes and imagine yourself in the Windy City listening to Mark Farina playing this to a club of hot, sweaty dancers and you’ll know just what we mean.

Some more info about the EP:

The 'Old People Drive Too Slow EP' is the second release on the Moodclub Music imprint. The result is an interesting and varied fourtracker with strong material out of different cities on the globe. Something for everyone, as they often say!

First track of the EP is 'You Make Me Feel' by the Kinky Movement boys out of Nottingham, UK. They deliver a peak time house jam with a phat and punchy analogue bassline, a killer vocal by Eden from Kinky Movement himself and a breakdown that's sure to get the booties moving. After dropping nothing but quality on their own Replay label lately and on various others, this is one of their biggest tracks to date!

Jazzy Eyewear, the man behind So Sound Recordings, delivers the second cut in his well known deep, driving style. Imagine a dirty groove, some synths, percussion and dope spoken word samples, then add a bit of "good ol' smoke" to the bunch and you'll get an idea of what 'Puffin' Away' is all about. By the way, a little bird told us Farina has already been heard playing out this tasty underground gem.

Then we have the third track of the EP by no-one else but house music prodigy DeMarkus Lewis. 'Make It Werk' is a deeper, more melodic affair that somehow has an old-skool Chi-town feel to it, with its fierce beats and haunting melody. Demarkus gives the world a piece of deep, stripped-down house music action that will surely go down well in those early morning hours.

Belgian youngsters 'Soul Circus' take care of the last track, namely 'You've Been On My Mind'. They provide a warm, sexy deep house cut while keeping the dance floor appeal high with a great female vocal. This one sounds quite late nineties in the very best way. Expect more from Soul Circus soon!

Some feedback to the Old People Drive Too Slow EP:

''Standout tracks for me are Kinky Movement 'You Make Me Feel' and Soul Circus 'You've Been On My Mind'''
(Andy Riley - Inland Knights, Toka Project)

''Thanks for the EP, really nice selection. My favourite is the Jazzy Eyewear track, but I also love the Kinky track, I'll play both of these for sure! Good luck to Soul Circus too, track sounding good.''

(Tommy Largo)

''Kinky Movement track has their typically nasty bassline, not a fan of the vocal though, great track otherwise. Soul Circus track is a beauty, nice and deep with enough bump to keep things moving, nice vocal on that one.''
(Andrew Phelan)

''Many thanks for sending this promo, an excellent EP! 4 wicked tracks, all killers – no fillers. My favorite has to be Demarkus' track. Played it out on Friday and it sounded wicked.''

(Rick Preston)

''I am really diggin the Kinky Movement track... that will defo get play from me''
(Romano Arcaini - Late Night Society)

Some more info about the EP:

The first outing on new label Moodclub Music is by the hand of the Belgian duo Vernon & Dacosta. Massimo Dacosta is no stranger in the international house scene. After being a resident deejay at the Touché parties in Leuven and afterwards at Food club, Massimo has been a friend of the house for years and gained a solid reputation both behind the decks and in the studio.

With releases on quality labels like Robsoul, Lowdown, Icon, OAE, Tom Bone, Seasons, Phono Graffiti and Flat & Round, they have conquered the hearts and ears of the entire dance music community. Recently, Vernon & Dacosta released some of their very best material on A Second Smell. In the meantime, Massimo keeps travelling the globe deejaying or playing for his home crowd in Belgium. These three tracks on the EP speak for themselves and are a perfect example of the Vernon & Dacosta sound.

Some feedback to the Vernon & Dacosta EP:
