There is an endless cloud of ungratifying rain always looking for us.
You know the story.
Then a realization occurred... People can sell music on the internet and not be forced to nourish the media industrial complex. And keep the rights to their work
huhm....
If you were me you might think, I am a web developer. Why can't I be involved in something cool like that. Then it's time for work. Mandatory overtime is always in effect and im late again. . That's as far as the thought went.
Shortly after some friends named Ari and Andy called me, talking about starting a website to distribute and promote local bands.
We talked.
Then we paused.
Then talked more.
Then paused again.
The word " crunkbox " came up.
By the end I was excited. They were excited. An idea was in motion.
With work we could offer something cool to our members.
Services not found elsewhere.
We could contribute to the music community.
We could contribute to the online community.
Maybe, just maybe I could tell my many bosses to piss themselves and spend my time promoting my bands. Yeah that would be sweet.
However, we're just babies man.
But we are working on it.
We are building this website. Constructing a service for indie musicians. We are pretty indie right now too - so stop by and show some love.
Crunkbox does several things for musicians.
-
We provide an instant distribution method for your beats and merchandise.
All you need to send us is the recordings and the art. If you don't have art we got
design kids looking to hook up with musicians. If you don't have recordings we find a place to lay down some tracks with you.
We promote, through the crunkbox street-team, articles and reviews, a network of promoters, heck word of mouth - working the shows, on the scene - talking to people and making them listen to your music.. Yea, it's like that.
And online. Oh of course online. We are a team of computer wizards who basically want to push the limits of online advertising. And yes, we will be advertising our bands.
It's win-win, if Joe Q. Traffic checks out your profile and your cd - inadvertantly they are checking out the site.
So yes - we spend our money and efforts on advertising you!
Pushing our member bands through forums, mailinglists, partnerships with other music sites. If you don't have a myspace account you should. We don't want to compete with other sites, we want to use them to promote our members. At crunkbox we list venues for cities we actually have a presence in. We hook member bands up with member venues. From the crunkbox point of view - it's all about getting you shows, pushing merch, finding you ways to create exposure.
If it is your goal to get signed we want that to happen. Hopefully you will mention us nicely in Rolling Stone or wherever.
So here we are. Just coming out of the starting blocks. The site is in phase one. It's a growing team - but it's a team. It consists of friends who know this online distribution model is swelling up and about to burst and sincerely believe in crunkbox . This myspace page is good for some communications - but you will find a faster response by coming by the site and contacting me that way if you wish to talk.
So to summarize, I am nick - and we are starting a different kind of promotion house. If you like being in at ground zero on new businesses, talk me up . By the way, we call the site crunkbox .
