The band No Longer Music is an amazing band in every way. With a set that mixes punk, hardcore, new metal, experimental and electro music, NLM (as called by its fans) has been capturing and entertaining audiences throughout the World with its unique blend of drama and music.
During the shows, a drama piece flows in an interactive, impacting and energetic way. As the musicians come up on stage, the audience has the feeling that "the circus came to town". The band calls it ..psycho punk theatre.., which creates an atmosphere that captivates the crowd from the beginning to the end of the show.
Though originating in Holland, NLM has members from all over the World, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Germany, Holland, New Zealand and the USA. This diversity of cultures, races and languages gives the band a rich variety of references that makes NLM a pearl of the underground scene and worth checking out.
The original band project, concept and first shows took place in Holland at the end of the 80..s and beginning of the 90..s, amidst a time of huge social changes. Most of its music reflects this spirit. It was at this time that NLM first began playing at big festivals like the "Flevo Festival" in Holland, a festival which gathers the best of the European underground music scene.
As the band grew, NLM became known for choosing very different, or even exotic (unconventional), places for its tours. NLM has played in countries like Vietnam, Siberia, Yugoslavia, and Kazakhstan. In the 80..s, NLM insisted on playing in countries that were still under the old "Iron Curtain", like Russia (ex-Soviet Union), Poland and East Germany. They have the honour of being the first western band to play in these countries and surprisingly being very well accepted by audiences and critics alike. The band..s success in Russia, for example, attracted the attention of the American television channel CBN in such way that they decided to film a one hour documentary with the band, calling it: "What are you living for?"
More recently, NLM has been touring in new places all over the World. In 2001, they toured through Central and South America, going through Brazil and Jamaica. They were particularly popular in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where they played in well-known night clubs fully pleasing crowds of this enormous city. In December of 2001, they toured Easter Europe, playing in big concerts throughout Germany, Poland and Austria.
In 2002, as requested, they came back in May to play in Sao Paulo.
In 2003, the band returned to Sao Paulo for a third time with a renewed show and completely reformed music set. No Longer Music played in the main alternative venues of Sao Paulo and also at the Steiger Arts Fest 2003.
In 2005, just after touring through Poland and Germany, the band once again toured through South America. For the first time they performed three shows in Santiago, Chile. In Sao Paulo, they played nine shows in nine days, including Thorns (a huge Halloween festival) and Hangar 110 - a famous gig spot for international bands playing in Sao Paulo.
