......rebel...maverick...black sheep...half punk half earthy dude. former underground scenester in such cities as new york, chicago, san fran and los angeles. im fascinated by LA and Hollywood because a lot of what the stereotype of what LA is about, im fascinated by – artifice, vanity, selling-out, celebrity, pushing physical and other ideals on people, social hierarchy, drugs and their problems and dark glamor, the quest for success, money, fame, happiness and "having it all" and selling your soul for it, the human spirit in its many forms. So much of our national(ist) culture and identity comes from HOLLYWOOD and (notions of) celebrity (which really arent real themselves - the notions that is,) and that fascinates me because what drives that cultural impetus is just one big crazy illusion reality TV Show. LA is just one big Hollywood set. Definitely LALA land... But this IS Hollywood, California (land of freaks and the insane and eccentrics and egomaniacs and genius and interesting people of all kinds) -someplace i NEVER thought id live because of what i felt it stood for and what im all about. If you can somehow keep the industry crowd out of your life (which is virtually impossible here) or at least keep it at arms length, its a much different life here. How much are you willing to give up to realize your dreams? How much are you willing to put up with to make your dreams come true? I like that being here makes me ask myself so many questions and at the same time is so inspiring.
What I Do in My Spare Time: photoshoots, creatively collaborating with other artists, trying to figure out each days set of lessons, venice beach/drum circle, chilling with friends, dinner at home, dinner out, DVDs (cult movies, documentaries, indies, film noir, comedy, science fiction, drama, foreign), hiking in Runyon, walking through Hollywood (and taking pics), biking, the Beach, chillin out in the desert, camping, meeting new people, daytrippin,(so many places id love to go i havent been yet), reading, taking classes, meeting new people, galleries and museum openings and exhibits, going out occasionally, following the buzz on the latest technology and hollywood chatter, looking at other photographers work, staying inspired, studying new media technologies, exploring this crazy world we live in and the people that move around me.....LA really is a fascinating place......especially HOLLYWOOD……...
