Douglas Coupland's Microserfs and other books he wrote long ago, Salman Rushdie's Satanic Verses, Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez (the first chapter is so brilliant the rest of the book can't live up to it), assorted jazz (auto)biographies - Miles Davis' being the one I remember most vividly due to all the profanity, Genome by Matt Ridley is a great introduction to the crazy stuff that we are made up of, Stephen Leacock wrote tons of comedy classics long ago like Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town, Frank Herbert's Dune Messiah, Orson Scott Card's Xenocide won't make much sense unless you read the previous novels in the Ender's Game series but it's worth it (y'ever notice that the second-last of a series is always the best?), National Geographic
Josh - he can sleep in a chair without drooping his head.
