Musical Background
Started life on piano age~6, all classics, read the dots, no jazz, good grounding but no "feel".
Started on guitar around age 11 - tore my fingers to shreds learning Bert Weedon's Play in a Day . Moved swiftly onto Mickey Baker's Jazz Guitar - altogether more up my street.
Spent 10 years with The Strawberry Thieves an acoustic based trio. Played many many gigs in the pubs and inns in Devon and Cornwall.
Showcased Dave Baybutt's tunes at the Tavistock Wharf in 1997 and supported Sean Lakeman & Kathryn Roberts at the first Tavistock Music Live concerts in 2004 Tavistock Music Live 2004 .
The Strawberry Thieves also performed at two open air concerts to raise funds for the children who suffered as a result of the Chernobyl disaster.
Recorded a couple of CD's with this outfit. Dave Baybutt writes interesting lyrics and we had good fun recording the tunes (i.e. rolling around the floor) with Dave Holmes of Free & Co on drums and Colin Boyd of Out To Grass on bass. Colin also engineered and mastered these albums.
Folks move on and times change and we wound this band down in 2004/5
Connected up with Dave Rich of the Dave Rich Band back end of 2004. Passed the audition on the basis of all bum notes are Jazz!
We released the "Overload" CD album in June 2006 which has received excellent reviews - see main band website.
The Dave Rich Band is now a well oiled machine and a great team..... and many thanks to all the folks who've supported us - and that includes you!.
Dave Rich writes some outstanding tunes, is an excellent musician in his own right (piano, guitar, vocal), great timing, and there's not much this guy can't do - great to work with.
Gear
Current instruments include various acoustic, classical and electric guitars, mandolin, acoustic and electric pianos and my daughter has taught me a tad of clarinet. One day I'll figure out the saxophone.
Live gear is based around Orange Rockerverb RV50 head through 2x12 Cab. Floor control is with a DMC Ground Control and GCX switching unit to control amp functions and level boost / delays etc.
Many thanks to the folks on the Orange Amps users forum for their advice and expertise, and in particular Leon, Billy and Ade.
Main live electric guitar is a pair of surgically modified Ibanez SZ's. Backup guitars include Gibson Les Paul Standard, Fender Telecaster Custom, G&L Semi-Hollow ASAT, Gibson ES333.
Acoustics include Simon & Patrick SP6 cedar top and Takamine EN10C. The acoustic is routed through a custom Orchid Electronics muting DI box.
Usual live gear. is shown below:

GCX/Rocktron Xpression, Korg DTR1000 tuner

I'd like to meet:

Anyone I can learn something from.
Anyone who buy's me a beer.
If that's you, then you... I guess.

Music:

Like good music, don't like bad music.
All genres from Jazz, Blues, Folk, Rock, Classics etc etc

A-Z includes Ian Anderson to Frank Zappa with Stan Getz, Herbie Hancock in the middle, and Vivaldi & Schumann at the edges.

Not a lot I don't like, but there is stuff that drives me up the wall.... especially if it lacks melody and sounds like someone demolishing a greenhouse with a chainsaw.

Television:

Tele what? Je ne comprend pas!

Books:

Inside Out - A Personal History of Pink Floyd by Nick Mason
Australia's Most Dangerous - Julian White
Ian Dury - Richard Balls (no kidding)

Heroes:
