Bio:
Having spent almost five years playing guitar, bass, drums, cello, and even didgeridoo in various rock bands in Kilkenny, Maurice Ramsbottom is now sowing the seeds of what seems to be a blossoming solo career. Hailing from Kilkenny and at twenty-three he is certainly no stranger to the music scene! Armed with only his guitar and his remarkably distinctive voice he has spent the last two years playing gigs in various parts of the country with the help of very valued musicians and friends. Having been brought up listening to the true greats; Dylan, Bowie, Neil Young and Lennon, whilst also being heavily influenced by Nina Simone and Robert Johnson, his own music has a fantastic eclectic flavour which tends to resonate in ones mind for weeks after hearing him. He is currently writing and recording with a view to releasing an E.P.Press:
"Maurice Ramsbottom blew audiences away at a recent support gig in Cleere's. His spine tingling vocals combined with skilful guitar technique, honest lyrics and pure soul, brought silence to the venue as the full house looked on in admiration as a talented musician reminded the crowd that music is a form of expression. Maurice proved that musical expressionism, when portrayed properly, is a powerful tool that provokes the listener to dive into the song and relate to every word. that is what a real songwriter can do and Maurice did just that."
