About Me

Here’s what folks are saying about Phil Hurley:“This guy should register his hands with the police. Seriously, he’s kind of a big deal”“Imagine if Jimi Hendrix and Clarence White had a baby that grew up on a steady diet of Duane Allman and Peter Green…”“Hurley is one of those inspired players who makes you wonder if you should go home and practice or just sell you guitar”“Right at home on stage with Austin’s legendary honky-tonk piano player Earl Pool Ball…”

My Interests

Guitars, Girls, Green Grass and sunshine....

I'd like to meet:

I sure would have love to have a chance to jam with Clarence White.

Music:

Yeah, I like music. Between Hendrix and Coltrane I have found my own spirituality. What they have laid down can never be equaled, but we can aspire....... I also can't live without Dexter Gordon, Wilco, Hank Williams, Television, Big Star, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Willie Nelson, Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, Gram Parsons, Jeff Fielder, Sonny Rollins, Louis Armstrong, Billy Holiday, Ryan Adams (sometimes), the Jayhawks, the list is too long.

Movies:

Blade Runner, Casablanca, An American in Paris, One Flew over the Cookoos Nest, Round Midnight, Sixteen Candles, Waiting for Guffman, Spinal Tap, Anything Monty Python, The Ruttles, '80's B-scary movies (ie Evil Dead), Superbad, Pan's Labyrinth, Dogtown and Z Boys,

Television:

The Simpsons, The Office, Mr. Show, Tenatious D

Books:

Into the Wild, Under the Banner of Heaven,

Heroes:

John Coltrane, Jimi Hendrix, Stacy Peralta, Neil Young, Brian Wilson, Nelson Mandela, James Burton, Dexter Gordon, Louis Armstrong, Alex Chilton, Eric Lowen
