In the late 70's, my brother was a high school trumpet player and there was a lot of Maynard Furguson and Chuck Mangionie playing in the house! My parents tried to sell me on playing the trumpet as well, but I had been to one-to-many HS band competitions where the power of the drums just blew me away!! So at 8 years old, I started taking lessons on the drums. At the time, my musical interests were all about KISS, KISS, KISS, and maybe some ELO.
By middle school, I was way in to Van Halen and Led Zeppelin. In high school, I thought music couldn't get any cooler and complex that Rush. That was until a friend bought and played me a Mahavishnu Orchestra record (Birds of Fire) that totally blew me a away and let me know that there was a whole world of music out there that I had never seen on MTV. For about the next 8 years I was way into all types of jazz music. I went to the University of Miami and did the whole "jazz degree" thing.
After graduating, I moved to San Francisco and caught up on alot the other music I had previously missed (Americana, Indie, British Invastion, Alternative, etc.) I did some original bands, the swing revival, jam bands, live drum and bass, jazz, and in '99 started a band with a friend called Brass Monkey. That band continues to be popular to this day and they played the Hollywood Bowl with The Meters and the Neville Brothers last summer.
I moved to LA 3 years ago and have been fortunate enough to hook up with a great band, Meow Meow. Their debut CD received tremendous press in Rolling Stone & NME and the follow up recordings we have made in the last few years are sounding amazing and you can hear a few selections on this page.In addition to Meow Meow, I have been working with a mix of pop, rock, jazz, funk and roots artists here in town. In addition to recording sessions for artists and soundtracks, I appeared drumming on screen on a bunch of primetime TV shows; including CSI Vegas, The OC, Frasier, American Dreams, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. I have also done some performances with Natasha Bedingfield, Joey McIntyre, Cody Carpenter, Pearl Aday, Deanna Johnston, and Miranda Lee Richards since arriving in town. As of late, I did tours with Minnie Driver and Chilean pop star, Beto Cuevas. Currently, I am on tour with Neon Neon. I created my layout at KillerKiwi.net
