About Me

Born the day the Beatles released "Get Back." Didn't take the hint and stayed out of the womb (I'm sure my mom is happier for it). Grew up in a little city in New Hampshire. Ditched art in favor of songwriting, thanks to the gift of a guitar from DJ Drummer Boy . (It's all your fault, Sean.) Moved to Boston (also Sean's fault) and started a band called Slippy Keane with him (yes, it was his idea--you can hear some of the results at his profile) and the one and only Josh Pickering . Got to know the very excellent Baby Ray with whom I played (in a band and solo) on many occasions, and with whom I'm still great friends. In that time, wrote tons of songs--weigh 'em if you want, but they'll bust your scale.
Current project is a record that's recorded and mixed and is ready for mastering. Comprised of songs written in 2003 and augmented by a couple written early in 2005, New Lights began recording in early 2004 with Denis Saulnier (who plays in The Electric City with his brother Eric) on drums. Erich Groat from Baby Ray played drum engineer with a late assist from Eric S.; he also played bass on two songs ("Kitten's Got Curves" is one, and he also contributed stunning harmony to it). More news once the beast is mastered--hopefully in January. In the meantime, enjoy the merry noise.

Last night Ken and I were returning from the Celtics' 16th straight loss and got on the subject of Journey and bad lyrics. One of Ken's favorite bad lyrics is the opening of Gino Vanelli's "I Just Wan...
