John Gibbons is a singer-songwriter raised in the East End of London
who, growing up within the Church, quickly realised he had a great love for
music. This was where his journey began.
Encouraged by his parents he joined two Gospel Choirs: FGM and The London Community Gospel Choir; this experience grounded him vocally and convinced him to pursue music as a career. Great opportunities were to follow. His first two professional vocal assignments were as backing vocalist for Luther Vandross and Diana Ross and he's worked with many other great artists since including: Tori Amos, Yusuf Islam, Joe Cocker, Chaka Khan and
Razorlight.
After travelling the world twice over and working as a frontman for Chicane and Luke Slater, John felt he was ready to step out as a solo artist. Drawing on the experience he'd gained through working with such a wide variety of artists, he teamed up with guitarist Raoul Brand and together they are writing songs for John's debut album scheduled for release next year. Some of the finished tracks recorded and produced by Phil Kulman can be heard on our jukebox above.
John has also recorded the ballad 'Could You Love Me?' which was written for him by Boy George, another artist to enlist his backing vocal talents over the years.
The music is Folk Soul - pure and simple acoustic tracks with beautiful melodies and heart felt lyrics - performed by one of the UK's most inspirational and unique voices.
Live acoustic dates will be announced soon. We hope you enjoy the music and would love to hear your thoughts on the songs. If you are interested in booking John for a gig or hearing more music, feel free to get in touch.
