RADHIKA means the embodiment of love, the one who inspires. But Radhika is more than a muse, she is a prolific musician and songwriter whose soulful rock with a jazz twist is sure to cause a stir.Radhikas first foray into opening up her music to the world began when her self penned song entitled Cold Out Here, began making waves online. She had recorded a rough acoustic version and tentatively decided to put it on the internet (music.download.com) to see what reaction it received. The accolades were tremendous and it was downloaded well over 10, 000 times with no publicity or radio play behind it. This incredible attention spurred interest in her and she was invited to appear on a BBC2 show and performed an acoustic version of the track live on air.Radhika describes her genre-busting sound as classic, crafted and personal, with an emphasis on lyrics, rock and soul infused with ambience, and at times, a little of my culture." A bit of a mouthful perhaps, but a statement backed up by some of the producers she has worked with. Andy Wright, who has produced artists including The Eurythmics, Natalie Imbruglia and even Pavarotti and production hotshots Bugz In The Attic.Her songs are a step above your standard fare. While there are love songs and tracks that capture the fragility of a broken heart, there is a spirituality that runs through each line, and a positivity that echoes Radhikas own upbeat personality.Look out for Radhika in 2006 as she undertakes a series of live shows, returning to the stages that she loves.
