About Me

I am a positively ancient individual with NO interest in being a dominatrix (pervs need not apply). I have been teaching for a LONG time, and would like to spy on my students on MySpace. I also love to give long lectures on internet safety and other kinds of safety.

My Interests

Technology. Reading. Video games of the platform variety (because I LIKE frustrating myself to no end). My various bbs and blogs. There are some seriously funny people out here. My job. I really like it. My kids. I really like them. My house (though I'm a LOUSY housekeeper, it's a wonderful challenge to attempt to create order out of chaos every day). Sleep. I never seem to get enough.

I'd like to meet:

My biological parents. But not enough to chase them down. I'm listed in registries. If they ever get interested, they can find me.

Music:

My taste is eclectic to say the least. Classic rock, alternative of most varieties, classical, jazz, new age (yes, I own Enya actually like it), punk, trance, techno, R&B, just B...pretty much everything except Gangsta Rap and country. Please visit some of my friends' band pages.

Movies:

Tell you what. As soon as I find a reliable babysitter and can start GOING, I'll get back to you. Some movies with a powerful impact on my life: Leaving Las Vegas; The Salton Sea; The Lord of the Rings (all of them); If you want to really know how I felt as an adolescent, check out Welcome to the Dollhouse. It's sort of a female version of Napoleon Dynamite.

Television:

No time. The TiVo is packed with the last two years of Gilmore Girls, ER, and House. I don't get to watch. My secret vice is true crime shows. When the husband is out on a Saturday night, I watch Cold Case Files, American Justice, any of the Law and Order shows. So sue me.

Books:

Hah. As if any of you REALLY want to know. How about by genre and author? If I've listed an author, I've read everything by that person to date.Juvenile: Eric Carle, Dr. Seuss, A.A. Milne, Lemony Snicket...et al. For the record, I own the complete sets of Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys. Life is good.Sci-Fi, Fantasy: Neal Stephenson, William Gibson, Frank Herbert, Robert Heinlein, Marion Zimmer Bradley, TolkienHorror: Stephen King, Peter Straub, Robert McCammon, Anne Rice (and yes, I've read the non horror erotica stuff as well)Mystery: Andrew Vachss (you HAVE to check this guy out), Martha Grimes, Dana Stabenow, Janet Evanovich, PD James, Kathy Reich, Michael Connelly, Patricia Cornwall....et al. I like the series stuff.Nonfiction: Helter Skelter got me going on the true crime stuff. Still a good read. I have a morbid fascination with the Black Dahlia murder, and read whatever I can about that. Again...ssshhh! This is my secret vice.
