Carl Kennedy BiographyIn October 2003 when Pete Tong ,of BBC’s Radio 1, proclaimed Carl Kennedy ‘ one the world’s ‘best undiscovered DJs.’ he was able to see what vast numbers of club goers were soon to discover; that Carl was destined to be the next big name in Dance Music.Hours spent around his father’s DJ booth in Birmingham England ignited Carl’s passion and appreciation for music early on, and though he has lived in New York City for the last decade, Carl still maintains a distinctive style that embraces both European and American dance music.In 1998 Carl became the resident DJ for a small house-party called GBH which was to become one of New York’s most prominent and longest running Friday night events. Through GBH Carl was able to entertain more than a quarter of a million people and help to revitalize New York’s house music scene.In 2000, Carl moved with GBH to Centro-fly, and had the opportunity to perform alongside heavyweights like The Chemical Bros, Roger Sanchez, Dimitri from Paris, Seb Fontain, and Erick Morillo. Then in 2003, when Pete Tong hosted his “Essential Selection†show live from Centro-fly, people on both sides of the Atlantic had a chance to hear the way Carl can work a crowd with his sexy beats and soulful tribal house sound. Ironically his popularity began spreading back to his native England after that performance, and has been growing steadily ever since.Carl continues to tour extensively at prestigious clubs throughout Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America. His performances at the “Release Yourself†party at Pacha,, and theSpace terrace were amongst the most talked about of the season in Ibiza this summer. His recent outdoor performances at the Ultra music festival in Miami , and the ‘Budapest Love Parade’ with eight hundred thousand people in attendance, were equally memorable.Nominated as “ Best Breakthrough DJ†at last year’s Dance Star Awards in Miami, electronic music’s most prestigious award ceremony, Carl’s status as an international DJ/Producer continues to rise with increasing momentum and is by no means limited to playing music.
