In a year that can only be described as stellar, Grant alongside Ivan Gough sent their TV ROCK studio project through the roof. Their debut single ‘Flaunt It’ feat Seany B broke all records, achieving double platinum sales (160,000 units) and screamed to the 1 position on the ARIA charts; picking up 2 ARIA gongs for highest selling single and best dance record respectively. TV ROCK also released Sunshine City- their debut album to much acclaim. ‘The Others’ – a collaboration with Dukes of Windsor spent 12 weeks at 1 on the dance charts and was a top10 single on the Australian pop charts.
Regularly heard on Pete Tong’s Essential selection, the TV ROCKERS have recently collaborated with Dave Spoon, MYNC, Richard Dinsdale and Dirty South with a string of new releases slated for 2007. The duo have also achieved 7 1 ARIA club chart positions for their remixes and have remixed the likes of Groove Armada, Armand Van Helden, Supermode, Fedde Le Grand, Josh Wink and Meck to name but a few. The TV ROCK boys also recently closed the Australian MTV Music awards playing alongside Fergie, Silverchair and Pink to an audience of over 1 billion people!
In 2006 Grant Smillie was voted Victoria’s 1 DJ in the Technics inthemix dj poll in Sydney- testament to his popularity and diversity behind the decks. Grant is an ambassador for Pioneer Pro DJ gear and is a co-owner in Bimbo Rock records.
Grant hosts ‘Overdrive’ on the Nova network nationally alongside Vicious Vinyl boss and friend John Course- it is the most listened to dance show in Australia and he is resident at superclub Famous. He has mixed the last three Onelove CD’s alongside Carl Kennedy, Kaz James (Bodyrockers) and The Freemasons selling over 100,000 units in the process.
