About Me

Maarcos has long been touted as one of Australia’s most promising young DJ’s and producers and at the younger side of the mid-20’s, he knows the road travelled has many more twists and turns. Both as an individual and a member of his Those Usual Suspects family he has tasted success on both the domestic and international stage. Long-time friends Maarcos and Wei-Shen started production life with one goal – “To be Australia’s top genuine house music producers”. That dream started with a bang with their first remix of Inaya Day’s ‘Nasty Girl’ hitting number 1 on the ARIA Club Charts and staying there for many months. Already accomplished DJ’s in the local scene they wanted to take the country by storm and while admittedly it took a little time for them to find their next hit, the addition of Atridge to the group saw them finally find their feet under the name Those Usual Suspects.
Remixes for Ministry of Sound for The Similou and Mark James were immediate hits and were followed by their first debut solo ‘Dakka’ which was signed to Bob Sinclar’s prestigious Yellow Productions label. Inducted as Australia’s first ‘Africanism All-Stars’ the boys created a hypnotic, afro-tribal track that defined their sound. “Early on,” says Maarcos “we made the mistake of doing only one sound, and we now realise there is so much more to this. The secret is that we vary our sound, but keep the spirit of House music in everything we do. Whether it’s a disco-infused melody or an afro-inspired percussion line, we just want to create great house music”. And this is exactly what they have done, with subsequent remixes for Bob Sinclar, Torre and Kings of Tomorrow and spanning labels such as Defected, Ministry of Sound and Claude Monnet’s SSOH the boys have already been dubbed by Ministry of Sound in their own country as “the greatest house music producers from Australia, ever…”
Their recent re-make of the Three Drives classic ‘Greece 2000’ has cemented their place on the international stage. With support from the likes of Axwell, Steve Angello, Bob Sinclar, Erick Morillo and Roger Sanchez, the boys are a step closer to realising their dreams. True to form, they are hard at work in the studio working on their next anthem. Their forthcoming single ‘Shadows’ has already sparked major interest overseas and will see Maarcos don his ‘Tiger Suspect’ hat again (previously with his own remix of Greece 2000) with a monster of a remix to go with the group’s original. When Maarcos is asked what is to come his answer is simple “Hard work, House Music…”
