For more than 12 years, DJ Twenty’s has proven that he is more than just a beat-thumper. His accomplishments show how a turntable genius precisely puts together different songs to make a concoction of beats and melodies that rule the clubs and the streets. This mix tape phenomenon is nothing short of spectacular. DJ Twenty has the honed-down expertise and handiness of a veteran, and is undoubtedly on the verge of spinning himself into history. He has turned a personal hobby into a commodity and a booming industry all on his own. The “Mixtape” is one of the most sought after products in the Hip Hop world. His 90-minute compilations are full of the hottest artists, mixed with never-heard-before rhythms and unique freestyles.
It was evident he had developed a keen producer’s ear while following the evolution of hip-hop and began making beats with his brother, up and coming producer DC. DJ Twenty’s produced several mixed tapes/CDs annually. This keeps the music flowing, even to those who can't get out to the club hot spots. With the help of good friend Shabazz CEO/Owner of The Bassment, DJ Twenty’s was able to flood the streets of Chicago with his mixed tapes/CDs.
In 2002, with the help of Norstar Entertainment, DJ Twenty’s took his career to another level and began to take over Chicago’s night club scene. DJ Twenty’s started spinning Thursday nights at Cafe Dulce in Chicago’s Downtown area. When DJ Twenty’s is at work you can feel the intensity and passion he has for the music. As he switches from record to record the crowd feeds off his energy. DJ Twenty’s amps the crowd by hollering into the mic, then throws on an even hotter record. The buzz DJ Twenty’s created with his superior skills on the 1’s and 2’s opened the doors for bigger and more accessible venues throughout Chicago such as Glow, Dragon Fly night club, Joes Bar, Funky Buddha Lounge, Ruby, Zentra, Cubby Bear, Chromium Nite Club, Minx, Buzz, Tini Martini, 720’s, Vision, Sangria, Crobar, Radiostar, and Tokyo 21.
These accomplishments and his dynamic talent to command the crowd at his request has brought him to become the resident DJ for all Bassment events. The Bassment is a huge factor in Chicago hip hop and urban movement. DJ Twenty is always reinventing his style and technique, his thirst for making music is what put him aside from his competition.
