Born and raised in Chicago, Lady T (a.k.a. Ivory Skillz) has been doing music for as long as she can remember. Her fascination with the radio began at the age of 3 when she was notorious for getting caught playing with her mothers 1988 Sony cassette player. Now at 22, this rapper/singer has record of her first book of songs written tracking all the way back to the second grade. Participating in school choirs since the age of 9, Lady T is no stranger to performing. At the age of 13 she did her first solo performance. Aside from her being known for her singing, she was also loved for her poetry in her teenage years. Expanding her writing techniques, at 14 was when her catchy rhyme schemes in her poetry inspired her to start rapping. As time went by she has kept herself in the Chicago music scene consistently because she has worked for independent music companies since the age of 16. Then was when she began learning the other side of the industry many artists don’t get the chance to learn. Not only was she pursuing her career as an artist, but got the experience to hear and promote everything from other local artists to commercial main-stream artists music as well. That lead to getting a first hand chance into the nightlife scene as time went by. She has been a familiar face at many events by working and promoting for various local entertainment companies and nightclubs. Overtime she has done countless shows at anywhere from clubs to festivals to get her music heard. In 2005 she was featured on hip-hop artist Visual’s album “Figured it out”, which is sold nationwide. In 2006 was when she met producer Erwin (DNA) Carrera. (Nominated for “producer of the year” at the 2006 Chicago Music Awards.) Soon after linking up the two recorded her first hit single “what you want” which is played by DJ’s across Chicago and now getting attention throughout the U.S. all the way to the U.K. with the help of Myspace. The track was released on DJV’s mixtape “For The People v7” which showcased only her and one other local artist. In September of 2007 she joined forces with streetflavaradio.com hosting "The Lady T Show", which is aired monday nights on the hip hop channel. She has done everything from performing her music to hosting her radio show, and coordinating and hosting monthly events to help showcase other chicago artists. Now in 2009, she is ready to let the world hear what the game has been missing.
