About Me

It all started summer 1977. Handfull of young lads had nothin' better than do than play some rock n' roll music. Cleveland back in the 70's was not ready for a band like the Pagans. Most people where stuck on top 40 radio. The band did not relate to that sound. It wasn't real to them. Pagans came straight off the dark streets Cleveland. Thats where the band devolpe with their rough, raw, high energy rock sound.
After the band released their first single in '77, "Six And Change" on Neck Records, which goes over $800 on Ebay. They followed with handful of singles for Drome records, that became punk classics. Such as "Street Where Nobody Lives" in '78, "Not Now No Way" in '79 and also "Dead End America".
Most part of the 80's the band change members. It was not until the late 80's they would release a record since 1979. They signed a deal with Treehouse records releasing few singles and two lps that became punk rock classics. "The Pink Album" Recorded live at the Mistake in Cleveland, also at the college radio station WRUW and Mike Hudson's basement in late '82 and early '83. Lineup was Mike Hudson lead vocals, Mick Metoff on guitar & vocals, Bob Richey on drums, Robert Conn on bass. Mastered and mixed by Jim Jones of Mirrors, best known for Pere Ubu fame. Second lp of a live lp titled "The Godlike Power of the Pagans" 14-song LP, recorded live, November 1986, at the 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis.
In November, 1989, Pagans played their last show, opening for another 70's classic punk band, the Buzzcocks, in Cleveland at the Phantasy Theatre. 1990 Pagans released their final studio release "Family Fare" (on Glitterhaus, Germany) Six-song mini LP. All songs from the Beat Farm sessions in 1988 and 1989.
During the 90's more releases pop up around the world. Re-issueing all the old classics on Crypt records vinyl & cd format with extra rare recordings. Cleveland's label Sonic Swirl records released a live cd titled "Live Road Kill". Features loads of unreleased live recordings from the beginning band's caree to the very end.
The band did get back together in the last few years for a few shows, including at the Cleveland Rock Hall & Fame and in Chicago 2005. Mike Hudson released his first amazing solo album on Sonic Swirl Records titled "Mike Hudson Unmedicated". Features guest and long time friend Cheetah Chrome of the Dead Boys on guitar. Which you can hear two MP3s on this page. If you like what you hear you can buy it at www.sonicswirlrecords.com For the most part all Pagans members are retired from the music business.
