Maya Metcalfe

Music is my passion and gives me meaning to exist! For so long I've been hiding my talent and soul, playing only for my own four bedroom walls. In the last couple years, after much upheaval and tragedy, I came to a point where I realised this was more important than just a 'hobby' and I started sharing my songs with the world, however narcissistic and melancholic my style may be... Its been an interesting road, with many obstacles and lessons along the way. Its not about being 'something' for anybody else, but rather being true to myself; my solemn promise and my deepest wish. I still get very self-conscious when pouring out my heart & soul for a room full of crowded, noisy strangers but in the end, I just close my eyes, and let the music take me away... as it has always done for me. With any luck, I manage to take a few souls to that place of peace with me, and it becomes a special moment of pure feeling, where space and time dont exist, but rather only a feeling of connectedness, empathy and love. That is all I have ever wanted to do with it, and what a blessing it is, when you can create something that has the ability to move people!
