Harmony (Hilary Davies) has been playing the flute since she was a little child, growing up in Liverpool. She trained as a classical musician on flute, violin and piano, playing in local orchestras and festivals, including studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, Cambridge University (Gonville and Caius College) and Trinity College of Music. She was also a keen composer of contemporary classical music in her teens, receiving a prize for composition from the Royal Northern College of Music for her Wind Quintet and having a piece for orchestra, 'Echo On', performed in a workshop by the Britten Ensemble. In 2005 she moved to London to study at Trinity College of Music with Lynda Coffin and Wissam Boustany and recorded an album of improvised solo flute music, 'Internal Sunshine'. Her flute playing has been sampled by psychedelic trance DJs such as Pete Ardron (2006) and Pituko (2007). She has recorded and performed with various musicians including Avalon Roots, QDOS, Ebe Oke, the Sacred Sound Collective, Teresa Gabriel, the Milk and Honey band, Pete Ardron, KP the Hip Hop Bard, Antarma, Maya Metcalfe and Assi Rose.In 2006, she toured India with Gypsy Folk group “Free the Loveâ€, also recording with the Bindoo Babas in Arambol, Goa. Upon her return to the UK, she played the summer festival circuit with Free the Love and the Sacred Sound Collective.Returning from a visit to various ancient Mayan ruins in Mexico in December 2007, she met Benjamin Crystal at Stonehenge on the Winter Solstice, and was introduced by him to Peruvian shamanism. Around this time she began to compose songs and play guitar. Since then she has been playing and singing her own songs at shamanic healing ceremonies, summer festivals (including Small World, Sunrise Celebration, Glastonbury Festival and Buddhafield, Festival of Life, Funky Raw festival and Out of the Ordinary) and at various London venues.Following a visit to the Peruvian Amazon to study indigenous plant shamanism with Enrique and Reina, in January/February 2008 she recorded an album of original songs, 'Medicina'. From January 2008 she ran a weekly acoustic night, "Sunday Harmonies", at the inSpiral Lounge Camden, and also puts on events including sacred sound healing circles (she is the founder of the Sacred Sites Healing Music Group which organises sound healing circles at sacred sites around London and the UK), meditation circles and bhajans (sacred Hindu chants) nights.April-June 2008 she returned to the Peruvian Amazon to study further with Enrique and Reina, and began to compose Icaros (medicine songs) in the traditional style while spending three weeks in a hut in the forest in silence and solitude.Harmony is now experimenting with using a Loopstation in her live gigs, studying Indian ragas on sitar (having met an Indian music teacher at the bus-stop), studying Sanskrit and learning to use Logic on her Mac laptop so that she can begin some exciting new projects. She has recently recorded flute for Anima and violin for a short Romanian film. Upcoming projects include gigging and recording with Avalon Roots, collaborating on a track with Aor Agni and working on a Sanskrit mantra project with Maya Metcalfe and Noa Bodner-Thwaite. She has recently compiled a songbook of Bhajans for her fortnightly Bhajan session at the Inspiral Lounge, Camden and will soon record a CD to accompany it. In December she will return to the Peruvian Amazon to continue studying Amazonian shamanism and shamanic music. real editor best profile tools real editor best profile tools
