The Woodshedders

new old school stringband

About Me

The Woodshedders ( aka The Hot Club of West Virginia ) deliver up the hot sounds of Acoustic Gypsy Jazz with verve and enthusiasm. This artful new quintet features the dexterous guitar lines and distinctive vocals of Dwayne Brooke, the pouncing rhythms and leads of Stuart Orser, the superb double bass of Ryan Mayo, the masterful mandolin of Chance McCoy, and the blazing fiddle of Fiddlin' Dave Vandeventer. Deeply inspired by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli's Hot Club of France, and driven by their own passion for creativity, The Woodshedders render a musical fusion of nostalgia and invention, whereby every spirited improvisation nods to the traditional and winks to the avant-garde. A number of unique original songs and compositions round out their repertoire of gypsy folks songs, waltzes, and swing and olde tyme jazz standards.
