Allowing the winds of truth to push me forward...

About Me

I am a dj, producer, percussionist and aspiring writer...As one time assistant for, business partners with (I managed Synchronic Records for a bit) and de facto mentee of Paul Miller aka DJ Spooky, I learned the ropes of the indie music industry (both good and bad) from one of the most astute and consistent. I have chosen to, up until now, remain behind the scenes, but am beginning to pull back the curtain...My music influences and engagements are varied. I have many friends and deep interest in the realms of Jazz, Funk, Reggae, Hip Hop and Electronica and fusion is de rigueur and a must. Without consciously trying to (i.e. the fine inspiration insists) my sensibilities fall somewhere between Bill Laswell and Dj Spooky with a bit of Teo Macero and David Rubinson also informin the post structural sonic swirl .I've got many irons on the fire so look for a flurry of activity in the next bunch of months...My current projects are:1)a collaboration between myself, Ron Carter, Brian Jackson, Airto and Mike Clark. Guest artists on this record are Killah Priest and Dudley Perkins.2)Mike Clark, Badal Roy(of Miles Davis's On the Corner fame) J Boogie and I are in the early stages of project that is a dubby, downtempo Indian-Funk fest based around the amazing beats that Mike and Badal conjure together. We are gonna have some very special and amazing guests on this one, stay tuned for more!!3) Horsemouth Wallace (legendary drummer and star of the movie Rockers) and I are working on some tracks and are currently working to put a soundsystem together...the fine inspiration willing, more vibrations from this scene will be emanating soon. Original Rockers Sound System ya'll!There are a few other things brewing, but as you can see there is more then enough to juggle.Anyway, lots of creative permutations about to spawn and enchant the scene, check back often for updates and clips...(still not sure how i feel about the 'unlimited use clause" that myspace inisists upon with content posted on here, but hey I'm new to myspace let me figure someway to post and not give away the bank...its hard enough for indie artists and R Murdoch doesn't need my money anyway!!)Stay up, sometimes that all you can do!One, Kentyah
