If there truly is nothing new under the sun, then the members of trance Halo are poised to kick modern rock music into the next solar system.

Since the debut of trance Halo on the Milwaukee rock circuit in early 2007, chaos has been no stranger to the hard-hitting modern/alternative rock foursome. Revolving drummers, a twisted recording process, and evil elements have all conspired to make this a whirlwind first year for the band, to say the least. But the band has persevered through the chaos, and has downright thrived in it.

The recording of their self-produced EP debut, Bender, marks the crowning achievement of the band’s Helter-Skelter first year. Front-loaded with five well-crafted songs, infectious melodies, a huge guitar crunch-fest, and pervasive effects swirling beneath, the sound of the record only hints at the chaos from which it was constructed. Recorded in equal parts at the band’s own project studio, Krunkopolis, as well as at Beathouse and the Laboratory studios in downtown Milwaukee, the record features a powerful foundation provided by bassist Belle, stacked upon by the dual guitar punch of Johnny Winston and London J.

The disc was entrusted to the mixing powers of producer Kevin Sucher (the Gufs, Eric Benet) to lend it a hard hitting low-end which drops like a bomb on unsuspecting stereo speakers. From the mind-bending lead track “Bender”, to the unforgettable power chorus of “Complication”, and through to the dark undertow of “Pool”, the band has succeeded in its desire to make some waves in the Milwaukee music scene.

The next phase of the band promises to bring a measure of order to the chaos. With new collaborations in the works including a powerhouse new drummer, a sleek new website, and a slew of new songs in the queue, the band plans to refine and redefine the sound of their debut effort. Simplifying the melodies and bringing the subtle electronic underpinnings of Bender to the forefront, new songs such as King’s Cross and Save me from Harm have rekindled the band’s drive. Look for new recordings in the coming year, a retooling of the band’s live performances, and an ever-growing web presence. Expect an upgraded version 2.0 of trance Halo to kick new doors down all over the region and beyond… in short, their plan for world domination appears to be progressing at an impressive pace.
