About Me

hello... welcome to the harris tweed ’space of my’. we like it here. it’s nice.

darryl and me [i like english, but sometimes it sounds better ’wrong’!] started recording some songs in the january of 2006. we had no particular plan in mind. only we knew that we needed to take some of the things i had been writing over the years and make them available for people’s ears. we kept getting excited about new songs, and starting those rather than finishing ones we had, and so before long, there were 11 tracks. these we released as harris tweed’s debut album, ’the younger’ through a most respectable indie label called just music, in august last year.
since then, we have been on some tours of south africa, and when i say "been on some tours" i mean we organised, drove, handed out flyers, unpacked the trailer, set-up the p.a, played the shows, sold the merch, signed the autographs, made the videos, packed the trailer, and had a lot of fun! :) we will continue to do more of these because we like pain - woops i mean playing!
in the last year harris tweed has been very very busy. we supported jose gonzalez and fall out boy at their shows in south africa - which was a great honour and pleasure indeed. the video for "ode" was playlisted on mtv and vh1 in europe - which was also a great honour and pleasure indeed! we were nominated for a south african music award and we travelled to austin, texas to showcase at sxsw festival with some of the most passionate, creative and marvelous musicians in the world! just recently, we returned from our first mini-tour of europe which was great great great!
now we are more inspired than ever to make beautiful music, and more hungry than ever to make it work! above are some songs from ’the younger’. we hope you like them. i have been writing new ones. ’cos that’s what i like to do. and we are busy working hard to make them the best they can be. we plan to release our second album in july 2008. and we hope for it to be our most monumental achievement yet. breath-bated.

things went amazingly the last 3 weeks in studio. brent knopf of menomena flew out from portland to help us produce this album, and we’ve never worked so hard or had such fun! we’ve finished most of the tracking and are on to the editing and mixing next. we’re so excited about this album - already we’re really proud of our work. *beam*
will post a studio video blog soon - sorry it’s been mad mad busy!! haven’t forgotten ya’ll!
