About Me

Small and alternative, Opera Theater Oregon delivers showy, entertaining performances of opera, musical theater and cabaret in English, preserving the beauty of the music while playing shamelessly with format.

Probably the first company to feature a chorus of displaced funeral parlor cheerleaders in a Baroque opera ("Dido and Aeneas"), OTO is now gearing up to take Bel Canto to the mall with "Muscle-Max," a new English version of Donizetti's "L'Elisir d'Amore."

In addition to its mainstage shows, the company also fronts a cabaret group called the Cavalcade of Beautiful Losers, whose stated mission is to take opera to the bar and systematically destroy it in front of classy, martini-swilling audiences. The group performs original musical shows throughout the year at the Someday Lounge.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who has daily cause to draw breath. We don't like discriminating against the dead, but some of them smell funny after a couple of days. Evil undead (usually better smelling) are welcome!

Music:

Henry Purcell, Kurt Weill, Richard Cheese, Barbara Strozzi, Gaetano Donizetti, Tom Waits, Victor Herbert, Francis Poulenc, Erik Satie, Vera Lynn, Lotte Lenya, Erich Korngold, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Jules Massenet, Justin Timberlake
