Influences: A soundclash of world music, latin, jazz and dance beats bringing fresh sounds and rare grooves all the way from from Swansea, Raithism are a unique 7 piece dance act formed in 2002 by Jolene and Raithe Laurence. Now encompassing a wide range of different instruments from flutes tolaptops, they are, ..an awsome group creating and performing the coolest tunes... Said by none other than... themselves. Sounds Like: seven of us in all, linking and kinking all of our influences to end up with a style no one can touch. Raised in the subtropical peninsula of Gower in Old South Wales, we live 10 mins from the shore on the edge of an enchanted forest, were elves, wood nymphs and tree spirits dwell. We consist of Toby 'on a mission' Dawes(horn section, keyboards), Tom 'Mutherfunker' Morris(percussion, harmonica), Seren 'serious momma' Willmott (bass and librarian), Pierre 'Don Donald' Davies (drums), Jolene 'Floating Angel' Lauerence (vocals), Raithe 'Music Maquenia' Lauerence and Dale 'Doo Ron Ron' Ryan aka Beebee Lotus (vocals/spitting) We have been giging around the British Isles and Europe for a few years blessing the lands we visit with munk,spunk and phat phunky choons. Getting into scrapes and out of grooves alomg the way. Some of our more memorable gigs include The Small Nations Festival(Cilycwm, Wales), Villa Palatina (Davos, Switzerland) and The mighty Globe (Greater Manchester, England). Unlike other bands we dont restrict ourselves to a specific genre, instead preferring to focus on playing only what feels good, and when you see us you'll know we feel good(oh yeaah baby).
