Swiss FX hail from the darkest depths of South Wales. People aren't too sure where they fit in the genre defining world. How could you when such a dynamic band can jump from funky/electro, to jazzy drum 'n' bass and then suprise you with time travelling dub to euphoric breakbeats? Swiss FXs latest 2008 album 'Track One' is a psychadelic forty minute medley fused with eclectic taste and musicianship to keep the listener stimulated and thirsty for more.
Formed in 2005, Swiss FX were purely improvised, throwing themselves into the dark of space but nevertheless, eachtime, taking the crowd to a discoteque in a remote galaxy. Having a handful of live recordings, Swiss FX have been regularly playing electrifying sets at Glastonbury Festival, Sunrise Celebration, Beautiful Days Festival, Recydrate The West and have gigged with the likes of Aquasky, The Egg, DJ Marky & MC Stamina, Dr.Meaker, Jon Kennedy, The Anomolies, Imperial Leisure Allstars, Planetman & The Internationalz and Bad Science.
Causing all the mud at Glastonbury with five hour sets, they are known to leave crowds with faces half chewed, sore ankles and sweaty brains at the unaldulterated, no holds barred live shows.
The Swiss FX album 'Track One' was produced by the band and mixed by Raithe. The concept for 'Track One' was to create a set the same way a DJ would, mixing one record into the next without pauses inbetween songs. What had started as two weeks free recording in a college for the students final year project, the drum track had to be kept and everything else recorded again at home for better results.
The album 'Track One' throws a few surprises to the listener. Imagine Erik Truffaz on a cosmic carpet ride at warp speed, peering over South America experiencing Rio delights only for Mr.Sulu to crank it up to 'eleven', get his funk on in planet breakbeat, then tuning the stereo to a cheeky five note electro/pop song which morphs into a deep one note riff. Well, we wouldn't want to give this time travelling albums secrets all away now!
'Track One' shows Swiss FX exploring many genres and boundaries that they're prepared to push yet not lose the, fun lovin', energetic and chunky sound since their maiden voyage three years ago.
