Official bio:
I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4Dancing; reading (bookclub!); singing; looking new words up in the dictionary; vegetarianism; travel and imminent freedom; creation in its most crafty forms – knitting scarves for people I adore, cooking lush meals to blissfully fill my belly, origami for your 21st birthday and hand-sewn garments on Tuesdays; natural medicine; music that I can feel throughout my whole body, that sends tingles down my spine and all over my skin; sleeping in on weekends; creative writing; long-held desires to learn the harp; dreaming and scheming.
Creative people, other writers, adventurers, philosophers, magic makers.
Music is always there for me. It picks me up when I'm down, makes my heart feel like it's going to burst when I'm filled with joy. Music fills the space between us, connects us. Here's a little sumthang sumthang that I'm into: Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings; Stevie Wonder; Ani DiFranco; Miles Davis; Marvin Gaye; Salmonella Dub; Hugh Masekala; Tori Amos; DJ Shadow; Bjork; Bob Marley; Kate Bush; LAMB.
With a cup of hot tea and a doona on the couch... yes please! I'm fond of Labyrinth; Amelie; Spirited Away... Films that capture my imagination.
I don't watch much TV. I'd rather read a book, but if I'm chilling with my roomies we sometimes watch: RAGE; George Negus' Dateline; Nerds FC; random ABC/SBS documentaries; sometimes and ONLY sometimes, The Bold and the Beautiful (which is chewing gum for my eyes, ok?).
Give them to me!!! 'On Beauty' by Zadie Smith; 'White Oleander' by Janet Finch; 'The Mists of Avalon' by Marion Zimmer Bradley; 'Unless' by Carol Shields; 'Sophie's World' by Jostin Gaarder; 'Chocolate' by Joanne Harris; 'The Witches' by Roald Dahl; 'The Beach' by Alex Garland, 'Even Cowgirls get the Blues' by Tom Robbins; 'The Hours' by Michael Cunningham; 'Trainspotting' by Irvine Welsh. Oh, and a little mook called 'Dumbo Feather, pass it on'. Check it out!
People who follow their heart and speak out agains injustice and untruth – Zana Briski (founder of Kids with Cameras) and Barrie Kosky (theatre visionary and hypnotic weaver of words) to note; anyone who can play the harp better than I; people who follow their dreams; people that campaign for women's reproductive health and freedom throughout the world; the lovely souls that I call my friends.
