As the modern dance music scene has evolved, so has its talent and diversity. In todays world of electronica and club culture, it is hard to come across live performers who keep the crowds bumpin’ and groovin’. Today, many top promoters and club owners strive to find new ways to please their clientele and the following crowds by showcasing the best talent that the industry has to offer. Over the years, one name that has stayed constant and has kept countless people happy is Marko Bongo. .It all started as a toddler picking pots ‘n pans out of the cupboard and bangin’ away. The rhythm could never be taught, but only felt. Being Armenian, growing up in Africa and parts of SouthWestern Europe proved to develop a mixture of drumming styles that today are considered the roots of “The Electronic Beat”. After playing/performing many different styles of music (Afro, Latin, Jazz, Middle Eastern, Classical, Rock and Pop to name a few) with various bands, it all filtered down to a solo act (in collaboration with some of the best DJ’s) in the world of Electronica. At this time an evolution was made where no thought was required to release the energy within; it just flowed from the soul out to the finger tips. Time and time again, Marko Bongo has set the stage for a truly class act. He has proven what he can do to set the vibe desired by all in search of “The Beat”. The definition of his vibe during this intensity is clearly electric. It heightens the club experience to a whole new level making the crowd move in ways never thought possible. It is a spectacle that elevates the DJ’s selections while adding a live element which drives the pounding beat deep through the surrounding bodies. . In the spring of 2006, Marko was approached by the highly talented global artist Mic Perri AKA MC Flipside (www.mcflipside.com) who was an icon in the previous Drum ‘n Bass era and who had also hosted/produced and directed the longest running radio show in Toronto (6 years running) on Toronto's Energy 108FM called “Street Beat”. Flip knew that the musical talent Marko had to offer streamed greater then “just” playing hand drums. Perri knew that he was also a professionally established drum-kit player who had toured with several leading cover bands. With that, the two joined forces and established the band Mic Perri which included legendary producer/keyboard player Sainte Pete of Robeter Productions. ..=======================================================200 7 Proved to be a monumental year for Marko as he began touring internationally and bringing the beats to other continents. He began producing his own style of house music that brought a rich cultured taste back into the modern scene. .Along with his musical projects, Marko (along with his childhood friend, Mike Park) established Bongo Media in early 2007.
