Introducing Latte D. Kyd...
After a self-produced demo featuring various genres including gospel, R&B, & hip hop; Latte D. Kyd turned her focus to developing her own unique sound. In 2003, she hooked up with "outside the box" producer Flavio Monopoli and they set out to make a "non-traditional" urban music album.
"So Begins the Saga..." (2004) is a powerful and cohesive presentation of four remarkable tracks which debut Latté’s distinct style and offer a glimpse into her vast potential as a fiercely innovative creative force. Kyd's flow presents a serious feminist vibe, flavoured with dark humour and delivered smooth despite often coming rapid-fire style over highly atypical 'beats' consisting largely of live instrumentation with rock, funk and jazz influences. Latté's sultry, soul-inspired vocals make the hooks not only catchy but a soothing contrast to the bullet-train verses. This introductory collection, though clearly offering fast raps juxtaposed with harmonic R&B-ish vibes is truly unique and difficult to characterize strictly within a single genre (or to experience by reading about it!). Tracks from "So Begins the Saga..." are still in rotation on several college radio stations and the EP has enjoyed widespread public acclaim for both it's interesting mix of music and Latté's raw yet captivating vocal and lyrical capabilities.
In early 2005, Kyd joined six other hard-hitting female emcees for the 1st Annual Ladies of Urban Sound Against Rape, a highly successful benefit concert (with all proceeds directed to the Toronto Rape Crisis Centre) and the brain-child of this compassionate entertainer. Latté is committed to making it an impressive annual gathering of diverse female artists: attention-worthy underground indie performers and local stars on-the-rise. The magic happened again in Toronto in the summer of 2006 and Latté was featured in PULP magazine as a result of the event(http://www.pulpmag.net/hearingaid/hearingaid06/lattedk
yd-aug06.html).This refreshing performer has showcased at numerous venues in Toronto as well as other Ontario cities and is ready and eager to take her high-energy show on the road. Already achieving local attention and press, Latté D. Kyd is definitely an extraordinary up-and-coming artist to watch on the global urban scene. Keep an eye out for Latté and her live urban funk-rock band, "Sweet Bitch" touring in the very near future targeting Montreal, Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, New York City, Los Angeles and other cities to be announced.
A brand NEW collection of tracks is also in the works for release in the summer of 2008 which promise to parallel the striking evolution of Latté's musical influences and abilities over the past few years. Kyd, after placing much creative control in the hands of others in the past, decided to act as the project's executive producer again this time around. Latté is currently collaborating on "The Saga Continues..." with a select few urban/electronic producers to create the continuation of "So Begins the Saga...", a promising full-length effort that will elevate her signature live-feel, more truly represent her own vision of her artistry and expose more of her talent as a singer (in response to popular demand to hear more of "that voice"). From vast potential to fierce prowess.
Expect the unexpected.

By all means, MESSAGE ME! I ALWAYS respond (sometimes things get hectic and it takes me a while, but it'll happen. Unless it's just spam!) and am up for meeting new peeps and connecting, especially regarding music.
I'm looking for contacts to assist me in setting up some hot shows in the cities listed above for next summer/fall, and if YOU can get me on the bill in your hometown, I'll do everything in my power to be there! Yes, I'm obviously on here to promote myself as an artist, but I am also looking to connect with real, solid, genuine people...can never know too many of those.
