In 2005, DJ Sir Thurl gained national exposure appearing on BETs RAP CITY along with St. Louis native J-Knicks as the guest DJ for CORE DJ week. He has received appreciation plaques from Ludacris, Murphy Lee, the Ying Yang Twins and Nelly.
Spinning at the hottest concerts for stars like Dem Franchise Boyz, Shawnna, Youngbloodz, T.I., 8 Ball & MJG, UGK, and many more in 2006 alone and being affiliated with some of St. Louis most impressive talents just adds more prestige to Sir Thurls resume.
He has played at parties for Nelly, Cedric The Entertainer, Joe Tory, Ali & Kyjuan of the St. Lunatics and with Missouri Nights for the Check Out Your Backyard Campaign.
DJ Sir Thurl has met Queen Latifah, the late Jam Master Jay, Lil Jon, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Timbaland, Pharrell of the Neptunes, Bonecrusher, Swizz Beats, Lil Kim, Petey Pablo, and many more stars.
In 2001, DJ Sir Thurl was offered a position as disc jockey with Clear Channel radio station KATZ-FM 100.3 The Beat. His morning mix show entitled Scrambled Eggs and Jam gained superior ratings and was nationally recognized. Sir Thurl also earned another mixshow entitled Friday Night Street Beats. As a Disc Jockey, DJ Sir Thurl was nominated for several national awards by the Mixshow Power Summit, including Best Morning Mix DJ, and Best Midwest DJ in 2003. Sir Thurl was also the winner of the first ever DJ battle on 100.3 The Beat in 2004.
In 1994, Sir Thurl hooked up with St. Louis native DJ Kut who now resides in New Yorks and works at Power 105.1 FM. DJ Sir Thurl played as the opening disc jockey for DJ Kut for more than 5 years and became known as The Official Party Starter. The two would go on to start The DJ Connection, one of St. Louiss most thriving dj services in the mid to late 90s.
