The months to follow were filled with tedious rehearsals in which the group polished off nearly forty DMB songs. It was late January 2003 before they finally played their first gigs. Along came the e-mails from amazed new fans. Who was this new tribute? "I've never heard of you before but the band was incredible." Two Step was officially born performing DMB songs the way they were meant to be heard. In early 2003 Justin contacted agent Scooter Abrams, who at the time worked for a large regional agency and booked the band for three shows on faith alone. The third show was a St. Patricks Day jam sponsored by Charlotte's 106.5 The End. The success of the show created a shockwave that landed the group gigs nearly every weekend for the rest of the year in venues all over the Southeast. It was not long before Two Step came to be known as an officially recognized DMB tribute band, and as Charlotte's own DMB tribute band. They have performed with international recording artists Lifehouse, Better Than Ezra, Staind, Three Days Grace, The Embers, Earth Wind & Fire, Virginia Coalition, and the list goes on. They have repeatedly headlined on outdoor shows at Dixies Tavern, as well as headlined Center City after Five in Charlotte setting the bar for highest attendance, with over 3000, and alcohol sales for the entire concert series. The band continues to be the only tribute to release it's own original album while still performing as a DMB cover band, and despite the countless other claims made by the other "regional" tributes scattered across the US, the Southeast's most popular tribute is Two Step. Efforts of deception to exploit the band's excellent reputation by booking rooms with a generic name has failed repeatedly. The crowds in the South know the difference. The proof is in the other band's tour schedules. Only one spends 300 hours on stage a year exclusively in the Southeast though the group is only part time. In early 2004, the Two Step as you know it today was reborn with three new members and bringing a new sound unlike anything heard before! The six band mates fell right into place on stage, performing songs with powerful solos, and a welcome comradery. The last piece of the puzzle fell into place when they hired Scooter Abrams as their manager to get them playing more gigs across the southeast. The group is performing with plenty of critical acclaim, and thousands of pleased audience members. They are now performing DMB music across the Southeast gaining new fans every show. The band seems to find good fortune in their joy of performance, and will surely make it far in their efforts. Be sure and catch them in a town near you. You won't want to miss this!
