Life!
You want something more specific?
Music; literature; CATS, especially Chausies and Siamese; birding (a.k.a. 'birdwatching'); animal welfare and rescue; Eastern philosophy; vegetarian ethnic foods (e.g., Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Australian -- what would life be without Vegemite and Tim Tams?; Radio Caroline, the very finest station in the known universe. Bottled water and tea purist!
I'd like to meet:
If you're trawling for women, forget it! Seriously, I embrace all equally quirky -- and full of it --
sentient beings of the creative variety. You know who you are!
Music:
I live, sleep, and breathe music. That my taste is eclectic is an understatement. As both a classically trained musician specializing in theory and an alumna of Berklee College of Music, I enjoy the analysis of sound.
Although I'm not comfortable creating a subjective list of music I enjoy (it'd be long), a few very special musicians deserve mention for reasons I hope they know: Steve Thorne, James Wilsey, Kathie Touin, Erik Satie, David Arnson, Tim Burness, Nadia Boulanger, and Martin Orford.
Over the past two years, my musical knowledge has grown under the influence of the late Rob Leigton, the genius behind the "Imagination" program on Radio Caroline. Rob's spirit and passion for music overlooked by others will live on in my heart.
Movies:
Generally pre-1950. A notable exception is The Yellow Submarine.
Television:
Haven't turned it on in years! It's a good thing series are being released on DVD; I'm a fan of Doctor Who and Torchwood!
Books:
I honestly wouldn't know where to begin, as I'm a voracious reader who enjoys all genres.
First, heartfelt thanks to Jen for leading me to Duncton Wood (William Horwood)!
Just a few of all-time favorite authors are Rainer Maria Rilke, Thomas Hardy, William Faulkner, Hermann Hesse, and self-published author Justin Peter Beaney. A bit of a motley crew!
There's a wonderful anthology called Poems on the Underground in which I never fail to find something to match my mood.
Lastly, I can't fail to mention my cousin, W. Edward Blain, whose first suspense novel, Passion Play was sadly underrated.
Disclaimer:
Once proofed and published, I steadfastly avoid perusing my own work ... until it's time for a new edition!
