About Me

Kathie Touin's latest CD is Soliloquy Deluxe, a sparkling collection of solo piano music intertwining timeless much-loved classical favourites with a selection of Kathie’s original pieces.

Soliloquy Deluxe features Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, Clair de Lune by Debussy and music by Satie, Bach, Granados and Chopin.

The original Soliloquy album launched Kathie’s career. She was praised for her emotive response to the music, shifting between light and shade, that listeners said brought a depth to the performance.

Soliloquy sold out its first run and Kathie’s original composition, the delicate Silver Song, received airplay as far away as Korea where it was used on tv.

Now Kathie is revisiting the album and Soliloquy becomes Soliloquy Deluxe - re-mastered, with improved sound, bonus tracks and striking new artwork.

The bonus tracks are from the piano demo that resulted in Kathie’s first recording contract: an alternative recording of Silver Song, two further compositions by Kathie, and an introspective piece titled A Blade of Grass written by renowned keyboardist Keith Emerson.

An edit that had been placed in one track has been removed, recapturing Kathie’s original intention that the pieces are heard as they were recorded - live and spontaneous, no overdubs, no editing.

The sound is now crystal clear, bringing the listener closer to Kathie’s delicate, evocative interpretations. It is a CD that invites repeated listening, whether as a gentle background, or personal audio experience.

The Soliloquy Deluxe front cover features a specially commissioned original painting by NM Burdikin - www.burdikin.homestead.com . The album photography is by Ricardo Memez - www.ricardomemez.co.uk .

Delve into the world of Soliloquy Deluxe and see why it deserves to be reborn.

Soliloquy Deluxe is available from www.kathietouin.com , and as a CD or downloads from websites including HMV, Amazon, Play.com, iTunes, eMusic and CDBaby. It is distributed throughout the UK by Proper Distribution.

Also available: Butterfly Bones, a CD of 15 songs written, performed and produced by Kathie Touin. It is a deeply personal, occasionally silly, sometimes sweet and sometimes edgy. Butterfly Bones has been played on the radio in the UK (including Radio Caroline), Australia and Canada.

Rock'n'Reel Magazine said: “Butterfly Bones features a particularly healthy fifteen self-penned numbers... smartly arranged piano-led pieces like the attractive Stop Me, the sparse beauty of Clarity, the ambitious sweep of Only Sky and the unpredictable delight of closer Does It Really Matter."

Butterfly Bones is available at www.kathietouin.com , www.hmv.co.uk , www.amazon.co.uk , www.amazon.com and many other sites. It is also exclusively distributed throughout the UK by Proper Distribution .

Downloads are available directly through these links - eMusic , PayPlay.FM , iTunes - and on many more sites.

Kathie was born in Southern California and began playing the piano by learning classical music, then in her teens moved into jazz and rock. She joined her first band at 15 and played in groups throughout high school - everything from heavy metal to progressive rock and pop. After graduating, Kathie attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts where she studied composition, arranging, performance, production and engineering. She then worked in California and Washington state before moving to London, England.
