(1989-97), the SLATE MACHINE cross electro, industrial, dance music, psychedelic progressive rock (krautrock), blues, supported in hipnotic and minimalistic trends. Check influences. The electronics, composed by drum machines, syntetizers and sampler, synchronized in studio with a PC P4 computer, with Cubase, and live by an hardware sequencer. Voices and programming - Feel See . LINKS: Number one music or Hi5 ____________________________________________________________ __ Feel See started his musical career in the mid 80,s as a drumer. He played in some post punk rock "pop" bands, the first ones did not had name, others were Espirito ressacado and Paxa-xa, where he meet Xano, the bassplayer. They have become very good friends, sharing musical references, and decided to leave the band, because it was becoming annoying, both started a diferent project called IMM. In the begining they had a very experimental aproach, using tapes, vinil records, drums, drum machine, metal percussions, casio sampler, voices, etc. F. See brother Pedro S., join in to play the guitar in their firt gig, and they became a trio. Adding a second hand Commodore Amiga 1000, first with trackers, then evolved to a more sophisticated set up, using the computer as a midi sequencer with a 8/16 bits sampler upgrade. They kept playing live and acquired more gear. A new sampler, some analogic, digital and FM synths, effects and drum machines... Things were working realy well, but due to some internal conflict with the brothers, unfortunately the band broke up in 1997, a few months after their last live act in the first "Zambujeira do mar" in Alentejo, one of the best sumer festivals in Portugal, where they played along side with bands like Bizarra locomotiva, Blasted mechanism, Blur, Deus, Marilyn Manson, etc. The folowing years, See continued to produce music, this time using a PC, mounted from scratch by himself and his friend Numatic, a computer technician, who helps a lot. Adding the machines as production tools, F. has dedicated a few years to dance music and some of his work is available to listen and download at http://xlab2.tripod.com The PC keeps evolving, allways in a no bug/crash system, super speed and excelent perfomance! So why go MAC??? Only if they were cheaper! We grew with PCs, since the time they only emited a BIP...=) We shore get along with them fine! Dr. Xano created YOX, a company dedicated to video/audio production, sometimes in cooperation with F. See. In January of 2006 they started the "Slate machine". A project designed to self adapt to diferent types of environment, live or studio situations, adding more elements and changing the sound spectrum when needed, so the machine can fit in the surrounding, allways keeping it´s own personality. This is our principal web space. We have not a "domain" yet, but sooner or later the machine will control the world, it is geeting stronger as it grows. Soon, the humam race will face the danger of extinction. ____________________________________________________________ __ We got some not so good news. Dr. Xano, is in Spain working for a T.V. station. So we will have to exchange files over the internet for a while to keep making music together. Let´s see how things work out. The Slate are now ready to play live, using an hardware sequencer to control the machines. We are making contacts to present the band live for the first time, it would be cool to make it under perfect sonorous conditions, with a good sound system, to provide a nice moment to everybody.
