Impossible Recording Machine

About Me

Echo The Moon
As fans of melodic pop as well as ambient and experimental music, Impossible Recording Machine’s Jim Dinou and Matt Walker set out to create an album that captured the depth and mood they had envisioned for their second release. If Axioms, their debut album, was a sampling of disparate moods and textures, they intended Echo The Moon to be a more singular vision, following the course of an emotive theme from beginning to end. The result is an album that is alternately beautiful and eerie, gentle and razor sharp. Echo The Moon is an explorative soundscape encompassing electric, acoustic, melodic, dissonant, disciplined and spontaneous musical worlds.

Axioms
Impossible Recording Machine's self-produced debut album, Axioms, contains 15 tracks which blend seamlessly into one another while simultaneously building the foundation for the 3 "axioms" of IRM: inertia (ambient), acceleration (instrumental) and interaction (pop).

Band Members: Impossible Recording Machine is: Jim Dinou and Matt Walker
Jim Dinou is an affirmed luddite when it comes to music technology. Perhaps the only person left on the planet who still uses 3.5" floppies, his workspace is flooded with hundreds of these dinosaurs of data... each one in various states of decay. Ironically so, it seems, as they are the bedrock for IRM's musical landscape. Jim was the keyboardist and one of the founding members of the acclaimed heavy-rock band EXO, was keyboardist for the quirky art-rock band SHINY, and he has played with and recorded for artists as varied as Manishevitz, Allen Keller, Liquid Soul, Shana Gray, Robbie Fulks, and Frisbie. Matt Walker has toured with such acts as Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage, and Filter, appeared on several albums including "Adore" (Smashing Pumpkins), "Resolver" (Veruca Salt), "Troublizing" (Ric Ocasek) and "Cupcakes" (Cupcakes), and worked with artists such as Billy Corgan, Sinead O'Connor and Louise Post on soundtracks for the films Ransom, Batman & Robin and The Avengers.
