Alan Bennett on crack, to a score by Chas and Dave

About Me

Er….. hello!!I’ve always wanted to write a song...so after years of combobulating around the issue…I did…more than one actually. So there you go.The songs I write are about real things, happenings and people.. stuff that has touched me (no, not touched me in that ‘funny’ way…). For some reason, they tend to be slow, dreamlike and melancholic (AKA miserable). Yet, strangely, I also write spoof songs and comedy tunes with daft lyrics. I could analyse that but I can’t be arsed.Being known for getting over-excited about stuff, I’m slowly recording my songs but can never be arsed to wait till the songs are finalised, mixed, mastered, seasoned and garnished… I shove ‘em on me MySpace first chance I get. I hope to be back in the studio again with Ian Shaw or Jon Lacey (when I have saved up enough two pence pieces).I’m very proud and honoured to have the chance to do Judie Tzuke’s Bring the Rain, a long standing favourite of mine. Hoping to put backing vocals on at some point.Unusually for my stuff, “Ieaysha” is a song you can actually clap along to it…. well, you could clap along to the others, only reeeally reeeaaally slow.I have finally performed live.. at my own landmark birthday party in December 07 (not telling you which landmark, but put it this way, you can see it from Kidderminster probably). Looking forward to the next chance to play....So.. this is me 'following my bliss' as they say.... hope you like it. If you don’t, check out the talented people in my top friend list, then go see them at a gig and say hello to me while you are there…Till then…

My Interests

Band Members: Vin Goodwin - piano, vocals and backing vocals Ian Shaw - guitar, bass, shaker and technical wizardry for all songs except for "Aloka's Song" - recorded & produced by Jon Lacey with backing vocals by Tamsin Warley and Adam Brown.

I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V3.6 !

Influences: Judie Tzuke is the major influence and inspiration. Others could include Kate Bush, Tom Baxter, Bailey Tzuke, Ben Mark, Chris Martin, Charlie Winston, Simon and Garfunkel, George Michael, Laura Matthews, Mia Silvas, Lucie Silvas, Tamsin Warley, Martin Newnham. Comedy tune wise is the fabulous VICTORIA WOOD and the Two Ronnies. Growing up music was an eclectic mix of 70's/80s pop and disco with a bit of Seekers thrown in on a sunday morning on the stereogram after watching Bagpuss.
Sounds Like: erm... like a strangled cat at times.. my music teacher said i sounded like a cross between Simon/Garfunkel and Leonard Cohen and someone else thought Pete Gabriel...another, a young Elton John. More recently ... I was described as "Alan Bennett on crack to a score by Chas and Dave" ! ... like it!!.....but i'll leave it up to you to decide who or what I may sound like...
