Brothers Christian and Jamie Lloyd Sefton and childhood friend Katie de Carteret got together in 1990 in their local brass band in the Welsh valley town of Pontypool. During this time, along with Katie’s sister Fleur, and Christian’s first kiss, they formed a singing group entertaining officers and colonels in army barracks.
On to Uni, the three friends went their separate ways for a while. Katie played tenor horn, becames an infant school teacher and provided piano and harp accompaniment to the little people of Newport. Jamie moved from flugel horn to bass guitar, and up to the city, and toured with new friends, Judie Tzuke, Mark Owen and Kristian Leontiou, liberally recording on projects with his bass and horns. Christian finished his orchestral percussion studies, and sat at his drums behind showgirls, entertaining gambling Americans in the Pacific Ocean, dreaming of a time to bring The Seftons back together.
And back to Pontypool they inevitably all came, to record an album together and get signed, 15 years after the first meeting; a Sefton sound which reminds them all of the last 15 years- and makes them all very happy.
